Permanon Platinum

I use it as a topper on my car coated with Opti-Guard for that slick feel. I find it actually accumulates more dust than bare OG though.

it seems a bit expensive to use as a topper for OC, but this is what ive read that most people use it for...

i know it is concentrated and goes further because you can dilute it, but i couldnt bring myself to may MORE for the topper than the product im topping...especially with reported durability issues...plus, what is really going to stick to OC...(more OC is all i know...if done within the cure period).

I must say though, i have no intention of topping my OC with anything (well maybe NRWW or OID), but that's just me.

Im still very curious to try Permanon, and ive been tossing the idea around for a while, but id love to see more of the durability testing first (i cant bring myself to spend the 150 to be the guinea pig)....

my only concerns are that I once spoke with a Permanon distributor, and he made it sounds like the second coming, yet he would not give me a sample to try..."something like Permanon speaks for itself" he said...hmm:confused:

From what I've gathered, it's seems a $10 bottle of DG 111 will outlast Permanon Platinum??

This seems to be a product begging to be sold in smaller sizes. I mean, how many applications will that 500ml bottle do at 5% dilution? 50?

the rep told me 35-50 vechicles...its a broad range, but you are definitely in the ballpark!

Yeah, so how many takers do they get at $130-150 a bottle? Seems like they should sell it in 100 and 250ml sizes. IIRC, when UPGP first came out it was only in the 12oz bottle and it was $70 or something. Later they came out with the 4oz size so there was a more manageable entry price, and of course later than that there was more WOWA competition and the price came down to what it is now.

very true

I understand that Permanon has its place.. But I feel strongly that AG should have invested in Wolfs Chemicals instead and just added the C2 from Gtechniq's line. Wolfs sealants last 9 to 12 months plus (hard body claims +) and are incredibly easy to apply for the expert but more importantly the most ham fisted novice. They repel dirt, tar and oil as well as cquartz, c1 and the others without the finicky application. And they dont have the waterspotting problem from my experience.

maybe bringing on Permanon was aided by AG's relationship with Gtechniq. ?

They do have it in the 100ml. size, but AG doesn't carry it.

I think it was made pretty clear that Wolf's has an exclusive distributor here in the US, so it wasn't in the cards for AG to carry (I may be mistaken but that's how I remember it).

Who might that be..DD?

I've been playing with Permanon for about 18 months or longer. In fact, I set up a Group Buy for it at L2D. It is a great product. It's true strength IMO, is the fact that you can spray it on a surface like the barrels of a wheel for example and then blow it off without wiping. There is currently no other product around that works that way that I know of. The other thing is that its chemistry is also unique with the negative bonding that it does.
In fact, I'll link a review, both written and video, that I did on the product at the time. To answer your question, there are several ways to apply it. You can look on Permanon's site directly too for FAQ's, etc. I use a paint gun to do it as it mists it the best way possible, using the least amount of product. I then use a mf soaked with ONR to wipe it off and follow that with a drying mf. Permanon give a VERY slick surface that repels dust and works well over coatings.

Permanon Review

Richy, there's a new product out that seems fairly similar in application - Nanolex Washcoat. Only seen reviews on Detailing World, and Nanolex US doesn't seem to have it on their site yet.

OK, thanks. Haven't been on DW for a while.

I don't know, I just remember that when the "wish list" thread was going and people were wishing for Wolf's, someone posted that someone else already had a lock on it. Of course, there were many products that we thought would never come to AG, like CG and FK, and some that took so long we never thought they would happen, like Tuf Shine.

I read about it some time ago: it seems that it works well...until the first wash (the promised 4 washes durability is not being delivered).

What's the difference between the Diamond Finish and the Platinum Finish???
