I was just wondering how many avid photographers there are on here, and if any of you would be interested in posting up some of your pictures so that we can hopefully share and draw a bit of inspiration from each other?

Not sure if something like this is allowed or acceptable, hence the post in the off topic forum - if mods aren't happy, you can delete.

Big photography enthusiast here... interests began with portrait and still life photography, but I began doing more automotive stuff when I started detailing professionally. In the end, I can have fun taking pictures of just about anything... though most of my time anymore is spent taking pictures of my son and our friend's kids.

I'd be happy to share some of my work when I am back at my computer.

Current Gear:

- Nikon D610
- Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC
- Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 VC
- Sigma 50mm f/1.4
- Nikon 105mm f/2.8 Macro
- Variety of lighting gear and other stuffs

Thanks for responding Zach - was hoping you would.

I'd really love to see some of your non-detailing shots (seen plenty of those any they are top class all round!!!)

My gear is VERY entry level.

Canon 1100D
18-55m kit lens
50mm 1.8 prime
75-300 zoom lens
Manfrotto 290Xtra tripod with a pan tilt head
Then I have a circular polarising filter, a set of diopters (1x, 2x and 4x)

I got started in photography because I had to document the before/after shots for my write ups and as time has gone one, I have developed a stronger and stronger liking for it. I really need to save up for a decent body though.

I'll start with a few of mine and openly welcome any constructive criticism so I can improve. As you can see I really am still trying to figure out what kind of shooting I prefer, and so try to shoot pretty much anything at this stage, although macro really piques my interest.

Over the years, I've had to teach myself not only photography but the lost art of figuring out how to take the pictures off the memory stick and then somehow magically making them appear on a forum without disappearing down the road.

In fact, like Zach, I've ended up writing articles on the topic of photography and working with pictures on the Internet. Not that it's my primary interest but once I figured things out it's a cinch to write an article to help others figure it out.

For fun however, I take a certain style of pictures when I photograph the before and after shots of cars I work on. I have this one thread I started to showcase one style called the low down grill shot.

I have a couple of other styles shots I take, just no time to create the article now days.

:)

Great pics, Lawrence. I dabble in photography, but I enjoy looking at others' work more than doing my own. I just don't have enough time to devote to it as a craft. Here are a few pics I took on a road trip last year:

I'm not into photography, but all of the pics I've seen in this thread so far are amazing!

Very impressive photos. Goes to show you don't need a $5k camera and $10k worth of lenses to get good results.

Like the new signature line:)

You always have some of better photos Zach. Must me your lighting:)

Here are a couple more I took this past weekend - my niece joined me to watch the sunrise.

Here are 2 images I managed to make last night. Our neighbors were celebrating Diwali, which is a Hindu 'Festival of Lights'.
