Pinnacle Advanced Compound in ACTION!

Pinnacle Advanced Compound in ACTION!

While filming the 2015 season of My Classic Car with Dennis Gage and crew we used this occasion to put the new Pinnacle Advanced Compound to the test on a swirled-out BLACK 1931 Ford Highboy Roadster.

This was filmed LIVE of course and anytime you're filming something like this live you really only have ONE CHANCE to get it right or get it wrong. I'm happy to say we got it right.

I'd like to thank Pat Reisinger, owner Reisinger Custom Rebuilding, LLC who loaned us one of his personal cars for trusting us with his baby!

Here's the camera guys rolling the 1931 Ford Highboy onto the set. The floor is from RaceDeck and earlier in the morning our good friend Jorgen Moller was here shooting two new episodes for 2015. I recommend the TuffShield version as it's easy to keep clean.

Mike the Grip is driver's side back tire.
Jon is passenger side front tire.
Jarod is driver's side front tire.

These pictures were taken with my trusty, dusty Canon and the camera guys also captured the swirls for the TV viewers when this episode air sometime in 2015

In the background you can see Dennis is standing next to the Highboy as we get ready to start filming...

Here's Dennis reflecting out of the swirly scratched-up paint...

Now that we've established the current condition of the paint, we're ready to start filming. Here's Dennis and I working through our lines before we start buffing with the new Pinnacle Advanced Compound.

In this shot I'm using the flashlight in my iPhone to light up the before and after shot so the camera guys can capture the before shots...

I finished buffing out just this small segment and then after we finished shooting the segment the camera guys came in and captured before and after using my iPhone again. We didn't get any side-by-side before and after shots so you'll have to watch this episode to see the side-by-side results.

Detailing Class on the set of My Classic Car

After we Dennis and I finished the 4th episode I went over a few tips and techniques for using Pinnacle Advanced Compound and the Flex 3401, all of which are covered in my new how-to book,

How to use the Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher
For both Production Detailing & Show Car Detailing

Ty is a street rod builder including all aspects of car building from welding, body work, panel construction from scratch, you name it Ty can do it as well as painting and buffing but the Flex 3401 is a new to Ty...

Then we knocked out the other side and Ty will be receiving everything he needs to finish the rest of the car....

Polishing and Waxing Steps
After compounding we hit the hood with the Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish using a Lake Country CCS 6.5" Black Finishing Pad and then machine applied Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax for a true show car finish on this beautiful 1931 Ford Highboy built by Reisinger Customs.

This was a fun episode to shoot and it was a great live-on-camera demonstration of the cutting and polishing ability of the new Pinnacle Advanced Compound. Even Dennis was blown away!

Re: Pinnacle Advanced Compound in ACTION

Where's the pics?? :)

Refresh your screen.... I forgot to change the album for these pictures from private to public. I just made the change so they should show up. If not try doing holding down the [Control] button and then pressing the F5 [Open] button or simply refreshing your browser from the browser refresh button.

Re: Pinnacle Advanced Compound in ACTION

So how would you rate the cut.... or better yet to which Menzerna does it compare? From the look of it I would say PF2500!?!

It will have more cut than PF2500.

Dare I say it will closely resemble the new Menzerna Super Cut 300?

According to the description, it can remove 1200 grit

Re: Pinnacle Advanced Compound in ACTION

How does the cut and finish compare to the new SC compound? I'd suppose they're very similar?

Cuts fast, long buffing cycle, finishes out like a polish.

Correct.

For some reason I've never been a huge fan of charts... I know a lot of people really like them or reference reasons but then there's the job of updating them...

Where's Todd when you need him?

:D

Marius at F40.com has been using this new compound for a few months now and loves it! In fact, all they use at the F40.com shop, (that's Wayne Carini's shop), are Pinnacle products.

Maybe I can get him to chime in when he gets a chance.
