Plastip Silverado project. First full vehicle dip

So dipyourcar just released a pre-order for this dip armor product. Suppose to be out in a month or so. I may wait and get this so I can spray it all at the same time

Should be a much more durable finish

I'm very interested in that as well. Looks like a great 'upgrade' to what we've had available...

Pulled the trigger on the dip armor pre-order It will make we pause my project for a few weeks :( but should be a nice addition to up the durability

I watched the new video of his Raptor and I’m interested to hear how durable/improved it is as well.

Side note
I washed the truck today. The plastidipped areas look very good. I am very happy with the results so far.
I used some ceramic detail spray on the plastidip and it worked great

Last spot I'm fixing before spraying
It has a coat of bondo putty on now. Not pictured. Some sanding then maybe one more layer of putty

Dip armor is shipped!

Last coat of putty

If weather holds up I plan to wash and prep the truck Friday

Then spray it on Saturday in the garage
I am getting my dad to assist with the project. He will be mostly muxing and straining between paint cup fill ups.

3 gallons of Avalanche gray
3 Gallons of frozen blue

Then unwrap the recently dipped shadow black bumpers and grill
Then spray
2 coats of Dip Armor over all painted/dipped surfaces

Great question. There is a large gap around tail lights. I plan to mask them off but I am considering removing them. Should be about the same either way. Not going to waste enough dip on them to try to peel them though

Yeh id recommend just taping them off. And just kinda feather it on em and then when done peel the tape. Was just curious what the plan was. Yeh as long as there is even a small gap itll be easy and not have to worry about but simply taping off the stuff. Def get some pic heavy action after its done. Im loving the color choice so want to see it all done. Good luck and cant wait to see it.

I think I will try to setup a camera for a time lapse if I can get it to work while charging ( old camera) too scared to have my good 80D around the overspray

Dip armor arrived today
Plan
Fri AM wash and dry truck
Friday PM tape off and prep truck
Sat am treat dad for breakfast then we will spray it with 3 gallons of Avalanche gray, 3 gallons of frozen blue, and let ot dry for a hr or more. Unwrap the bumpers then spray all dipped areqs with two coats of the dip armor!

Weather permitting

Should be a fun weekend

thanks.
I will drape plastic tonight over a lot of stuff. I won’t cover everything though. Most of the overspray seems to go straight down luckily.
