It all went great until the dip armor clear coat
I got a runs on both doors

The clear was a lot thinner and runnier :-(. It calls for two coats with zero time in between.
Next time I thibk i need to adjust the gun down more to put out less product.

The clear sprayed a much better fan than the dip though

Nice work and results! It looks great, drip aside, it's not that bad!

Glad the armor went well except for a little learning curve. (you may have saved me on my next dip project!)

Thanks for posting, still sub'd!

I hope I fix the runs. There are plenty of them to practice on

Hand wet sanding

Chance to put my flex pxe80 to work??

I have not done much wet sanding on anything before.

That’s a healthy project. So cool you got to share it with your dad. Also very curious to hear how it responds to sanding.

Yeh i dont think it will respond well to sanding. Even with a clear its still a rubberized coating it probably wont turn out like you think. Its not ment to be a permanent solution so I would prob just leave it unless you have product to redo those panels if need be. And it turned out amazing. Nice work i love it. Only thing i would do if it were mine is different tail lights. Those things stand out a bunch on that blue now. Ive always had tinted tails so im a little biased

They wetsand plastidip without the clear as well They have tutorials on how to fix it. I will try. I have extra product If I redo the doors I may pull them off the truck to sprsy the clear with them horizontal (if I redo them at all)

The dip armor is pretty similar to clear coat. They even have ceramics that work with it as well. It isn't a rubber coating at all (the lower layers are)

Way more photos from the tripod coming!!

Looks good in the pics. Nice job for your first time

Learn something new. Didnt know you could wet sand it. Nice been a long time since i sprayed full vehicle. I mainly do grills and wheels and such and just use rattle cans and rattle can glossifer. Good to know. But it looks good man!!

Dip armor is brand new product. It probably won't ever be in cans as it is a 4 part clear. It makes the surface feel and act similar to paint. Still peelable but you have to use a heat gun etc and it won't let it peel as easily as before. Also gasoline and chemical resistant. They have came a long way!!

Yeh id say. O yeh i know that probably wont be in rattle can. I was just stating thats all i use now and i dont do anything big except wheels. But thats awesome. Speaking of dip i have some of there chameleon in my cabinet i might have to find a use for. Also have a can of black left from my wheels might have to spray something with that and then the blue/green chameleon on top. Hmmmm.

I'm pleased with the outcome
I am sad about the runs in the clear but I may just live with it

Is there a step where you have to notify the DMV that your vehicle is a different color now? Just curious.

Ive painted and changed color on many of my vehicles and never have notified them or had issues. Now saying that i am not sure if you your supposed to or not. Just my personal experience i never have (again i may not be doing the right thing but still)

No idea. It's still technically black under the dip

Won't be contacting anyone about it. May change it later on

Researching ways to fix runs in clear coat

Still contemplating whether to live with the mistakes or try to fix them. I do have extra clear/dip armor

So far looks like add bondo to surround the runs amd sand until all bondo is gone

Or razor balde shave them

Or a combo of the two

Hey if u have extra material to redo it id at least try to fix. Worst case u have to redo it. You will feel better about it at least having tried. Because honestly what are you gonna do with the extra product anyways? Sit em on a shelf. If it were me id just take the time and try to fix it. Most your out is time. I think u can fix it. The amount of prep you did im sure you will be paitent and be able to fix it. And when you do please post pics
