Please Be Kind - I'm Stressed Enough

Come & see us anytime! :xyxthumbs: We are still a bit beat up from the earthquake in November just down the road here but we still have the Kiwi "she'll be right" attitude.

Yep spot on! Take your time with your wash routine & come spring, the work will be minimal to make that GTi like new again. Maybe apply a coat of Pinnacle a couple of three times in between now & spring too - just to keep a good layer of protection on there.

Can't wait to see some pics of the GTi in all it's glory. :dblthumb2:

Aaryn NZ.

Definitely will take some pictures out in the sun when finished.

My plan is to foam gun to wash (or rinseless wash), and adding a quick layer of the Pinnacle after the foam wash is a good idea!

Autogeek gets a chunk of my hard-earned $$$ a couple times a year. We may be cash poor, but our rides look good!!!

I think that sums it up right there. You are a true Autogeek through and through. Congratulations on your excellent results so far. Freakin' blast isn't it. Take care.

Peace,

Darrin

Things are going well! Finishing up tomorrow! Don't know how you guys do this stuff every single day. Six hours work today. Probably another four tomorrow. But I'm having fun. Orange pad with Wolfgang TSR.

Looks great man! I do 1-2 per week. You get faster and better as time goes on. You'll see ;) It's a matter of finding the right combo of products to apply. Once you dial it in and refine the process you'll drop to maybe 5-7hrs or so on something like a Golf/GTI. The Chrysler 300 I finished today took just over 8hrs from the start to having a beer admiring the results. I have customers drop them off the day/evening before so I can wash, decontaminate and get the car fully prepped for the next morning when it's all pretty much buffer work.

The biggest part of the time savings for me is having switched to a Flex 3401 forced rotation buffer. I also found it's easier to two-step bad ones too. Hit it with a MF Pad then finish with Foam. Way easier than trying to plow through it with just foam; at least for me.

Congrats on those results Pj! That paint looks fantastic now.

Why is M105 so popular when it can be so finicky to use?

I don't find M105 finicky at all. I've seen a lot of folks mention the dusting, but IMO the dust is a minor considerations in comparison to it's effectiveness.

This may speak more to my lack of experience with many other compounds, but I have not found a reason to move away from the 105+205 combo. It's tried, tested and a true answer to every paint I've touched.

Guys here already gave you great advise.

One product that works for almost all clear coats is Groits Fast Correcting Cream.

User friendly
No dusting
Very long work time
Finishes down very well.

Start out using a white pad, six passes, wipe off, no need to prep it afterwards because there's no filers.
If it corrected at least 85% then go to a polish and look at the results.

^^ this, although I'm off 105 and use M101 Foam Compound. I heard and read a lot about Griot's Fast Correcting Cream and tried that but nope.....M101 is much better. Finishes nicer so there's less polishing needed after and it's as easy to remove as can be. Way easier than Griot's. I just have found so many of the Meg's products are great.

Since your ride is brand new and after you wash/decon the paint I would use a light polish, M105 may be a bit aggressive on a new car but with an orange pad and lower speed but that's a given on a new car anyways.

Ultima PGP is a very underrated product and may wanna inspect the look of the paint before topping it. I would suggest a 2nd coat to ensure complete coverage, wait till your next wash and apply a 2nd coat after the wash.

Duuuude, it looks great. For a first correction you did an incredible job. It does take quite a bit of time. I know, for me, if I just keep focused on the task at hand and work methodically, soon the car looks freakin great. You should feel good about what you did. Congratulations.

Peace,

Darrin

Thanks! This is actually my third correction. First for this car. But still an amateur. I learn a little more every time I go for It!
