Please critique my new website

Eliminate the Express Wash. There is no money to be made. Other then that, I like it!

There's no header at the top with your company name... I get just a thin gray line and immediately below that is the Ferrari and services link. I keep trying to scroll up to see what the page I'm looking at is.

Tried it in Chrome, Firefox, and IE.

Same as above feels like there is supposed to be something on top that I cant get to. Otherwise its a great start!!

All fixed:xyxthumbs:

I don't like the fact that I have to click the box because your site is not secure. That will chase off a lot of people I bet

I'm getting it everytime

'This webpage contains content that will not be delievered using a secure HTTPS connection...'

The photo on the bottom left was moved from photobucket. It shows this way on all pages. There is also a comment box that says you can't add boxes.

Looks good. I do not get the security box and the top part does show.

Great pics , however few tips.
Add in a FAQ section
Add in an online payment method, everybody loves going paperless
Add in a link to the Facebook page

Overall nice design

I think you need a few more before and after pictures. Put them on the main page so they arent linked maybe. Also I see that you have two cars at the top. It feels like they need to be bigger or you may need to add two more cars so that you have four at the top to compensate for the space next to them. I also prefer a white background as opposed to the black. Thats my two cents. I also wanted to mention just the fact that you have a website is a huge plus and you are moving in the right direction. Keep up the hard work

Wonder why I am getting that box popping up?

I also like the white background. Everyone and their momma is using black

I wish I had any kind of computer skills at all lol...ive been workin on this for months lol... Ill try to add the suggestions you guys have made. Now I know why people pay for website designs....

Hi Chris...
Thanks for sharing your web-site!!
(And as you have suggested...A suggestion-based posting on my part):

The first thing I noticed was:

-It's as though a "ghost writer" is relating/narrating this web-site in the:
'Third-person subjective form'...with you being the 'point-of-view' (POV).

-Even though this 'writing-style' seems to be an oddity for modern-day writers…
I find it rather refreshing.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

-However, if I was a prospective customer, this style may beg the following questions:

1. Who is The in: The Gloss Boss?
2. Who is We? (Is this more than a one-man Detailing-businesss (just Chris)?
3. If more Detailers than Chris…Are they as capable as Chris?

From the…"Why Use Us!" page:

"Chris uses only the best Waxes, and is liberal with its application. He washes
and cleanses the car, from the wheel arches to the windshield.
Then he'll add at least one deep, protective layer of carnauba wax…
What's more, after Chris has detailed your car, the wax finish resists dirt and pollution…

So how good is The Gloss Boss? Well, even professional body shops can sometimes fall
short of our high standards. "They just don't spend
enough time on the process," explains Chris.

"It saddens me to say that I've had to refinish
a $5k paint job because the customer was unhappy."
<<<This is good, IMHO!

Chris safeguards your investment:
regular treatments will preserve the quality of your car's paintwork…

From the…"Services & Specialties" page:

We have different detailing packages and options available to fit
each customers individual needs. Prices vary depending on the
condition of your vehicle. No car is the same and whether your car requires
just a wash or a three stage paint correction we have
the knowledge to get your car shining better than when it was new.

My honest opinion is that:

-You should be telling your own story-line in your own words.

-If not…The way it comes across, as now written,
it could be interpreted as a: "Non-Customer Testimonial".

Just an idea...

What about the prices?

I personally don't care for all the useage of your name. Chris does this, Chris does that, and when Chris is done, etc...

Then on other pages you refer to your business as "We". I feel you need to pick a direction, and go with it. I for one use "We" on my website...referring to me and my team. Or, in a lot of sites "We"refers to you and you business.

When you start repeating your name, it's a turn off for me personally. Might just be me.

I also feel you could use more services. It's a very small list of options. Like someone else said...erase that Express Wash. Or, make it simply a wash. Nevermind the vac, dressing, etc. If all you're getting is $30...then simply wash. For $30 there's no money to be made after the actual wash IMO.

I personally would increase some of your pricing...but, you know your area better than me. $250 for paint correction alone is unheard of. Never mind adding everything else you're doing.

I would get a logo as well. Text alone is boring.

You may want to get some help from a web designer or at least go to a pay site that has template set up to help you. If people can't search for your site through Google than they will probably never fond you. You will probably need to spend a few hundred for some help and some web hosting. You investment in your website will come back 10 fold if you do it right. Good luck.

Go to SitePoint ? Learn CSS | HTML5 | JavaScript | Wordpress | Tutorials-Web Development | Reference | Books and More for some help on web design and technologies. They have tons of books to purchase, and a great forum for help. I had been buying these books to learn on my own. I went back to school a year ago, and showed my professor this site. He is now using their books this semester as text books. It is a great site for newbies and pro's. You can even follow them on Twitter and Facebook for articles on the entire process.

Nice points Bob. If I ever put a website together I for sure will seek your advice before going live
