I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but beware the oil (or even dead plants) can remain active for years, some say up to 5 years. Meaning if you got some of the oil on a tool, and put it away, that years from now you could pick up that tool and get a rash.
And yes, IPA (in your paint prep) is good for removing it.
I have used a good poison ivy wash for your body, but the name escapes me right now. And it does not really spread like everyone thinks. You are retouching the oil with different parts of your body and your skin has different sensitivities to it. It will show up immediately on soft skin areas like the underside of your arms, but then not show up on the tougher more callous skin parts until later making it look like it is spreading.
Probably won't work at this point, but good for future encounters.
Man. I hate poison ivy. I get it so bad. Never got it till around high school. I had to go in the hospital two years ago for it. It got infected and into my blood. Docs and nurses were in awe over it. Here’s one pic. I won’t post the bad ones. Had it all over so bad. Still can’t figure out where I got it that time.![]()
