Polish- less darkening effect

You might want to consider Meguiars M02 Fine-Cut Cleaner. It cleans up the paint very nice, and leaves a kind of sterile, cold finish without so much excess gloss.

I used it with Lake Country Pink heavy polishing / light cutting pads on a Porter Cable 7424xp. 9 years of drive through car washes were no problem for that combo.

From my understanding 845 is more of a hybrid type product.

Why not stick to ULW? ULW does have a darkening effect on darker paints as well. M21 gives a more candy coated look compared to ULW. You know I am pro M205 versus UP.

Have you considered just coating the truck? That will give you that glassy look for sure.

Considering coating, yes. Kinda Leary about application. And can't really decide which one! Lots to chose from. I may just stick to ULW. But I'd like to try a diff polish. I just ordered Menz 2500/4000.

By the way no need to be leary about applying a coating. I think you would be happy with Gloss Coat. It's very easy to use.
 
If you're looking for something "glassy" you might want to consider FK1000p--it looks like a new layer of clear coat and behaves like a coating in the way it sheds water and dirt. And it lasts.

I will let you know about using the Menz products. Thanks for the gloss coat nod. Been reading about it. Looks like a good one.

I'm an oddball in more ways than one!
Really, I keep all the cars in my fam dark and wet. But for some reason this pyrite Tacoma paint looks so much better to me with that candy/mirror-like shine. I think it's mostly the black plastic bed rails- they really stand out when that paint is dark. But fade into the background when the paint is glassy. At least, that's what I'm seeing. Then again, I'm kind of obsessive about my truck. So...
