Hi everyone!
This is my first post here, and I really want to say you guys got a great forum with a lot of information I have read the past month.
I made my order one month ago and because I do not live in the US, I sent the package to my cousin and he send it right away to me.
Today, I started doing swirl remove on my Black SLK, after doing some clay yesterday. I started doing my car and there are some scratches that I cant remove them. I am using Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover Kit and I used Lake Country Orange Pad with Total Swirl remover and the first time was ok, a little change about 50-60% the second time about 80-90% but there are some scratches that really dont want to get out, or maybe it is my clear coat which make it harder for me to take care of it.
Any ideas what should my next step to make it perfect? should I do a third step?

Hey welcome!!!! Are you using a DA polisher or a rotary???? If I knew that maybe i could help you out a little more and so could the other guys here on the Forum.

No problem man ! I should have known since you posted it in the Porter Cable 7424 Forum Section haha. Well here's another question. Are you able to feel the scratches that you're not able to remove(with your fingernail)?? If so, that is usually a sign that they are too deep for the Porter Cable to remove. I own one myself and i have some on my rear spoiler that are too deep as well.

I saw that your using an orange pad. Do you have any finishing pads as well,,,like a white pad?? Sometimes a good finishing polish and pad will help hide those deeper scratches

I cant feel them with my fingernail which means i can remove them. maybe it is because I polish it on speed 5 rather than 6 and therefor i cant remove them, what do you think?
And about the white pad, I have it but I dont know if I should go and do the Finishing Glaze or maybe try for the third time and do the Total Swirl again.
 
The other possibility may be that you need a polish with more cutting power. Menzerna makes a polish called Super Intensive and i use it on my audi with fantastic results.

Yea when i start off polishing with my orange pad i start at speed 6.
Then when i go down to my next polish i throw a white pad on and go at speed 5.

After that, when i put on sealent and wax, i just do a quick layer on speed 3 and then im set.
 
just finish a part on speed 6 and the result it good, about 90% gone but the other 10% dont want to come out.
I know mazerna is better but I knew it after I already bought my gear.
so do you think i should try the Finishing Glaze with White pad and maybe it will come out?
Another thing, I got wool pad, should I use it to get more aggressive cut to take those scratches out?

Well the finishing glaze will probably hide it a little better. It wont take the scratch out though.

The wool pad is actually going to put more marks in the surface, which you are then suppose to follow up with and orange pad, then white, then so one till you finish down the surface.
 
Your first problem is you're not using the right type of polish. Wolfgang is a great product, but not on a Benz. You'll learn just through reading that certain cars have very hard clear coats. Mercedes are one of these cars. It's a ceramic clear coat meant to be scratch resistant up to a certain point. So it's hard to scratch, and hard to remove. You need to pick up some Menzerna SIP/Nano or 85rd. It's meant for ceramic clear coats. And like Audi said, get some white pads and some blue pads.

Just a quick note also have a ceramic clear coat still using the PC you may not be able to remove all the scratches with the SIP which requires more heat then the Pc can produce i used my rotary and had better results but then you take a chance using a rotary if your not carefull. I used white pad SIP Then nano White pad then nano black or blue pad ..

Agreed. Not sure if the OP has the experience with a rotary but a rotary is definitely the way to go. Just take your time with the PC on speed 6 and an orange pad. If you make a couple passes with SIP/orange, you should get most of it out. Just make sure to follow up with SIP on a white pad before moving on to the polish.
 
Just go for it with the rotary that was what i was told LOL.I actually used a orange pad and SIP and there was no way i could controll the rotary and a orange pad stepped it down to a white and was a good change and i was using the 6.5 pads . I was going to step up the the larger pads like the 7 or the 8 in pads was advised to use the smaller ones.One thing i have found out on this site like all other forums everyone has a great opinon but use the one that works for yourself.

Now I really start to feel regret not taking the flex instead of the PC because all our cars got hard clear coat and it will take ages to take all the scratches out.
For now what do you guys think I should do to try make it really good since I do not posses Menzerna SIP/Nano, should I do another pass with White Pad?
I really start to be confuse and I dont know what to do next, so any help will be appreciate.

Go over it twice with an orange pad then with the white pad. After that, go over with your polish and a grey or blue pad.
 
You will need to pick up some SIP and 106fa for the hard clear of your vehicle, and probably a rotary to achieve the results you desire. For the mean time go over the areas several times with the orange pad, then follow up with the white pad, and hopefully tou have a blue pad and finish with that. This will take sometime with the pc on speed 6. I doubt all the swirls will come out but it will look better if you have some patience with the pc.
 
And what about the wool pads, should I try them out?
So if I got it all correctly, 2 pass with Total Swirl Remover on Orange Pad then one Pass with White Pad, than going to Finishing Glaze with Blue Pad? from what I understand the finishing glaze going with the White Pad and not with the Blue, correct me if I am wrong.

You always want to finish with a blue pad. You should go over the finish with the white pad and 3.0, maybe twice if needed then go to the blue pad and the glaze.
 
so doing one finishing glaze on white pad, then blue pad and what about the sealant? or it is not the LSP, because I know the last step is sealant and need to be applied with the Blue Pad.
 
The sealant is the lsp, I usually apply my lsp by hand on a yellow applicator, but everyone has there own way of applying an lsp.Also you might have to go over the orange pad with the white and 3.0, then go over it with white and glaze and then finish white and glaze, sounds like a lot of steps but this clear is hard and it will make a difference in the end. Then finish on a blue pad with your glaze.
 
so do you think that if I will get the menzerna SIP and Nano the scratches will come out easier or it will be almost the same since I have the PC and not a rotary or Flex?
