Hey guys I have a few questions. First, I cant get the micro scratches out of my ceramic paint (already were there) with my 7424 and orange pad. Do I need to get the yellow pads or is this possibly something out of the PC's ability? Also, when I use my Megs 105, it seems like its GONE after one pass. Whats the problem? I read it should last for at least 2-3 passes. I really need some help. I went over the hood twice to no avail.

I don't have any knowledge on the Megs but while you're waiting take a picture of the microscratches in case it will help with the reply's

Sounds like you are not priming the pad correctly with 105. You need to saturate the whole pad then work polish over the area. Also it might take several steps to remove the defects.

saturate as in make the pad really wet?

You want to put drops over the entire pad spaced out and work the polish in to completely cover the pad, you might have to add a few drops on the pad and not work them in and then go and polish.

You need to saturate the pad with 105 and rub it in with your fingers until the entire surface is covered. Then remove excess polish with a MF. After the pad is primed, apply a small amount of 105 to the pad and give it a go.

What's the point behind priming th pad?

I think I fixed it. I used a white and they cleaned right up (for the most part :) )

What kind of car is it? John and I aren't very far from you if you're ever interested in bringing it up to Lynchburg to have it polished out. We've done quite a few cars with scratch-resistant clears and had fantastic results.

Next time I'm down in the Raleigh area, I'd love to meet up and see your car. I come down quite a bit. Both my and my wife's best friends are down there.

I learned an IPA wipedown is very important. You thing you're good to go, then do an IPA wipedown.

Ok so you find micro scratches after an iPAWD (yeah that's right iPawd. Like iPod. Isowhatever alcohol wipe down. I'm calling dibs on this term)

Then what? What would you finish it up with? 205 and a white pad? Wipe off with a NEW mf cloth?

So the IPA wipedown showed me that I wasnt done :(. Im so lost. Should I just seal it up for now and get help before I do something stupid? Ha

If you wiped it down and you still have defects then yes, you are not done. If it is, I am just surprised a white pad fixed your defects and the orange didn't.

Im saying that the white did not fix them as I thought. Maybe I need yellow?

I would keep working the orange pad, it does take several passes sometimes to remove the defects.

kovalchuk71 reread these posts and give it another try:props:
