Poorboys strip down wax stripper

I'll post this here as well, I had very good results in the first test. I applied Zymol Titanium 3 days ago on the paint (not polish prepped beforehand). Washed today with 1 oz per 1 gallon dilution of Adam's Strip Wash with little impact, strong beading and quick sheeting remained. Sprayed Poorboy's Strip Down when wet on half the hood, went over the area again with the same mitt and the beading was dead during the rinse. No etching marks where it made contact on the paint.

On my front bumper I've had McKee's 37 SiO2 Paint Coating for 7+ months, extremely strong performance remaining and I tried Strip Down on a section. The coating was significantly damaged in various areas, not full removal but permanently impacted. Very cool, more testing to come!

Just tried it today on top of 2 weeks old Gyeon Prime and Gyeon One on the other test hood after first trying LA's Totally Awesome APC. LA's didn't do anything to Prime, had a few small patches of damage show up on One. After Strip Down both sections had larger patch areas of damage, One more than Prime. So it's significantly more effective than a strip wash soap at high dilution and at least more effective than LA's TA.

Just watched your video. The initial performance looks good. But I would be curious if it is leaving surfactants behind that could possibly masking the hydrophobic properties of an LSP. It would be interesting to see an IPA wipe down to see if it is indeed masking or not. I could see it removing old waxes and sealants as they are done anyway after a couple months to a few months.

He posted a follow up comment saying he tried an IPA wipe and the water behavor(or lack there of) was nearly the same. This stuff might be legit.
 
When I first did all my testing to find out what really stripped an LSP and what didnt using various pH balanced, alkalines , solvents and acid products ..acid being the only product that worked on the product I used ..Autoglym HD..

I failed tp realize not all waxes and sealants will have the same chemixal resistance..

Finally did more testing with other products I had in hand angelwax being one of them..

Some wax/sealants will resist acid and be stripped by solvents ..some will be resistant to solvents but not alkaline etc..


So to make things more complicated, yeah all these strip type products have a potential to strip an LSP

My regimen for stripping an LSP while not polishing now incorporates Acid prewash, followed by alkaline, than solvent prep..

That's about as sure you'll get to stripping an LSP besides abraisives

What do you use for your acid and alkaline prewash?
 
I sometimes use CS-II Dewax, but it's not the cheapest, so usualy only is it for a coating job as thats the first process anyways.

Feynlab pure wash will do same thing for less

Been using freaky foam allot lately
IGL delete would work too

For the alkaline, any APC would work..I use ADG Fbomb

Freaky foam claims it won’t strip wax, yet its acidic. LOL

Yeah, I noticed that too ..but again he could of been testing it on a product that's resistant to acid like Angelwax

Have you found any LSP that will only be stripped by solvents?

I would assume Carpro water spot remover will strip any LSP not resistant to acid like the others you mentioned.

I can do an alkaline test on enigma to see..I've only did acid and solvent on that one.
 
I know Art De Shine is thinking about working on one resistant to all 3

Hell I finally realize all coatings are resistant to what I thought was standardizef PH2-PH12 range
 
I've used this stuff 2x now and it works. I'm quite surprised. I wish I had found this stuff last year. If you're someone that occasionally changes LSP's often, this is a must have product. I ordered 2 more bottles from AG.

I like to switch LSPs often, and mainly only do rinseless washes, so this might be the perfect product for me.

What's it smell like?

No smell. I was surprised it worked as well as it did. I know Waxmode and others have tested it and it does do the job. It's the only spray solution I'm aware of that that will strip most LSP's.

My method for using it is: rinse car, spray Poorboy's Strip Down on surface, wash vehicle, rinse. If it's still there, do one last spray of Strip Down and use your wash mitt and go around the vehicle again.

It's a really effective way to removing sealants/waxes without having to polish.

The instructions say to use during a bucket wash….
