Porter Cable 7424XP

I respectfully disagree with your comments.

It doesn't matter if you don't use it at full power. If you think about it, at lower speeds, you NEED more power to keep the pad rotating. With the MF system, you need all the power you can get at lower speeds.

I haven't used the MF system, but the 5.5" lake country pads rotate fine with the PC 7424XP and I perfer to use it over the griot's. I was only commenting on OP's choice between the 2. Since I have both machines I thought I would share my thoughts.

Wouldn't the G110v2 have the edge with regards to power for rotational torque? I mean it does have the electronic circuit that applies more power when it detects the tool bogging down...

I haven't used it or the GG polisher, but I'm really waiting for the Meg's unit to become available again because I think it'll be my unit of choice. The PCXP felt unimpressive to me -- the large(r) case isn't as comfortable to hang on to as the original PC.

I personally have not worked with the G110v2 but I would believe it should work just fine with the MF DA system.

If you can give the GG unit a try it's got some power. When doing a DA correction. IMHO I like the GG for correction and the PCxp for finishing.

It has the electronic circuit that applies more power, but it still has a smaller motor than the Griot's. The g110v2 doesn't have anymore power than the g110v1 other than the electronic circuit feature. I've used both, and the Griot's is better, plain and simple, IMO. ;)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. In no way, shape, or form am I absolutely correct, but I do feel strongly about my opinion. :)

I make it a policy never to disagree with someone I am reasonably sure could snap me in half like a twig, so.... :iagree:

Why do you guys recommend getting the 5.5" instead of the 6" pads and backing plate?

If I understand everyone it sounds like it is because it (6") doesn't spin as well as the smaller size (5").

Okay I was just wondering because I found a kit that comes with the PC, weight and 6" backing plate for only $125 + free shipping.

Trust me when I say you will need more than just the one size backing plate.
The Meguiar's 5" MF DA starter kit comes with the W67DA 5" backing plate.
While you're at it get the Megs 3" BP too then all your bases are covered.

I have found the GG that comes with the 6" backing plate and the PC that comes with the. 6" backing plate. I'm trying to do this the most economical way because I'm a poor college kid lol.

Go with the Griot's DA. It can't be that much more expensive. It's definitely worth it as the power difference between the 2 is night and day. If you're going to use the DA MF system, buy the Meg's 5" DA backing plate, it works best with the system.

Hi Mark, if only GG Polisher available in Indonesia, would definitely buy it :(
Tomorrow I will do full detailing of my car. Just wait for the result bro.
Ha ha ha... wrong thread though ;)
Anyway I'll be using PC 742XP since that's the only DA I've got.
See ya Mark :righton::cheers:

Hi Jefri! :props:

The PCXP can definitely get the job done, don't get me wrong! The GG is just more powerful! Let us know how it went after you detail your car!

Go with the GG i bought the PC because it was at lowes and am very sorry i didn't just order a GG and wait for it to come. Damn my need for instant gratification LOL. Im sitting here waiting for my AG order like a crackhead waiting for his dealer. Anyways the PC is a good machine but there are alot of time when i just wish i had the power of the GG although the flex would be nice but thats out of most our price ranges. As for pads i use the meg's soft buff line just because thats what i have always used and its what is available at the local detail supply shop but after reading all the reveiws ive decided that later this week im buying the flat pads (along with my MF correction system starter kit Im the MAN). So learn from my mistake. My recommendation to u would be what everyone else has already said GG with LC Flat pads
