Possible Spring 2014 Chicagoland Detail Day?

Any takers for May? Much better weather. (April showers...)

May sounds good to me.

I'm on my phone right now but will check and see if we can put up a poll. If so, I'll put up one and we'll go from there. That being said, IMO Sunday would be the best day as most people don't work that day, plus you can prep your car the night before.

Does anyone have any ideas for what you'd like to do at the event? Is there anyone who's unfamilar with rinseless wash for instance? If so, we could have a seminar on that. Open to all ideas, its some time away but that's what all this extra time is for, ideas and such.

New here, but very glad I've joined. I'm definitely down for this meet up. Just got a new DD in Oct.

We could do a raffle with items that each person brings. Say a detailing product that we no longer use or would like to trade for something else? We did that the last meet, and it worked out pretty well.

The raffle is good, trades could be done on the side and set up before hand. I was thinking I could give away a couple samples of some things as I've got a couple spare 4 oz bottles as well as a good spray bottle I could fill with a version of "FrankenDetailer". Keep the ideas coming guys, spring will be here before we know it!

I think a raffle is a good idea. I also have some products that I just don't think I'll ever use and would be happy to give them to people who would use them!

A nice thing would be if anyone has a beater that can be used for polishing and wet sanding.

General help with polishing techniques.

Personally, I'd like to get some hands on with a rotary to see how different it is.

I also do rinseless and waterless washes, but I'm never quite sure whether I use too much or too little spray or over use the towels when I wipe (i.e., too many passes).

I'd also love to check out that Z51 if Joz132 comes!

We can round out the day watching Fast & Furious 6!

Jeff is our host and owns the shop, so his ZR1 will be there for sure, along with some other rides of note. I agree about a car that needs a good polishing and with the amount of people there I would think it would be easy for everyone to pic a panel and get to it:buffing:

Great, and thanks, Jeff, for hosting this event.

Did I miss the date/time of the event?

I'd love to make the drive up there (just 3 hours), but I'm booked most weekends from March through November haha look forward to seeing an exact date so I can see if I can make it work!

We don't have a date yet, at first we were thinking sometime in April but you never know with April so we'll need to see how the weather is trending for sure. Jeff, our host, said the shop space would be free early in April but again, for that its going to depend upon the weather. Since this is a meet/carshow/seminar type event good weather is key and we deserve after the winter we will have gone through!!!

As far as the car to work on I think it would work best if we say do a panel at a time and then the next person can come in and do their thing at their speed. Say its washed and say I do the d/s fender completely and people check it out and then a little later someone comes over and tries their method for the car, somethying would be learned there. It could be done at their speed, no hurry, just walk around and check out what was done and what was used. Now we just need the car, maybe a black Honda civic, something you'll really be able to see the difference on. To take it a step further we could document the work done on each panel and see which one holds up the best, thus meaning a different LSP on each panel, the ultimate test!

I'm starting to put together some samples for door prizes for the group, so if you've got extra of some things or something you make up, i.e. "FrankenDetailer" for instance, bring it along to pass along.

Btw Jeff I found something on Ebay for you, something you said you didn't have and I'll give this to you at the detail day.
