The new Sony's look like they're good headphones. I have Bose QC35's but I don't use them for detailing.
With the use of pressure washers, vacuums, blowers, compressed air, steamers and polishers, detailing is a noisy task. I listen to podcasts or music when I'm detailing, so having noise cancelling headphones is super useful in blocking out racket and allowing me to continue to hear what I'm listening to. Compared to a set of earmuffs, these are more comfortable to wear for hours at a time.
