Just some minion packing boxes asleep at the wheel

Having managed a warehouse, the worst case scenario is the guy putting the stock away stacked a whole box away on the wrong shelf, and yours is one of many sent out incorrectly by minions asleep at the wheel. It is not fun sorting it out.

Hey…I resemble that remark!

And yes, I have shipped the wrong item before & it’s a real dagger-to-the-heart when a customer contacts me to let me know. Having been on the other side of the box, opening it to find the wrong product is a real bummer, especially on a Thursday or Friday when you have a weekend day planned to use that product.

Shipping car care products to folks is one of my favorite parts of the job; having used the things I’m boxing up I always think back to the fun I had with them and how well they worked! It’s especially rewarding when packing up things for someone you just talked to on the phone; they’re excited, I’m excited for them and I can’t wait to check back later to see how it went.

A bit corny perhaps but entertainment is where ya find it!

Your recent experience though, man…you have a special kind of bad luck, the kind I thought was reserved only for me. 0 for 2…here’s hoping the 3rd time is a charm!

I have to sheepishly admit I rarely think of you guys when I am trying to order supplies

I will give it a whirl the next time around and see if you have what I need and what your freight rates are

I have gotten a lot of great info from Todd over the years so maybe it is time to pay it forward

Shipping costs are a tough nut to crack, even in the lower 48. UPS kinda reminds me of airlines in that prices seem to change from day to day for identical packages/destinations.

UPS in particular seems to want nothing to do with Alaska & Hawaii (Canada too); their rates are generally 2X+ those of USPS and delivery times are much longer (outside of the Expedited Next Day & 2-Day services which are eye watering as far as cost).

While e-commerce systems (where you can define size/weight of individual items) are generally tied into shippers directly in hopes of determining accurate shipping costs, it becomes a bit more interesting when 15 items that can be on an order to be shipped in a single box present themselves.

I have no idea how the e-commerce platform tells the shipping software how to determine a shipping cost for presenting on the checkout screen for multi-item orders…really fuzzy math perhaps? I do know that when we were using ‘calculated costs’ for shipping, it got somewhat inconsistent…and on the surface, arbitrary as to over/under vs real costs.

In the end, barring anything like artificially inflated shipping/handling add-ons, shipping generally ends up written in red ink on the ledger as opposed to black. The inconsistency led to our current $9.99 flat rate for orders under $99, Free Shipping for over $99 policy (within the lower 48 states…doh!) Then when you ship a $600, 65# pressure washer across the country on a Free Shipping order, welcome to ‘The cost of doing business’ as you slap that $60 UPS label on the box. And there isn’t much margin on some things unless you buy a few containers full…a bit impractical for some.

It’s all in the math I guess, something I never excelled at!

I think you are on to something here

It is both confusing and frustrating

Add to that the USPS Priority Flat Rate boxes keep getting smaller and smaller and cost more and more every year so that becomes less of an option as time goes by

Just shipping through USPS in general is like navigating a labyrinth with all their exceptions and rules punishing you for shipping a box that doesn't meet their ideal of what a box should be, as if an oddly dimensioned box throws off their entire process (it probably does)

I don't ever expect something for nothing but when a company can ship me a 15 lb box of assorted stuff for $25-35 and the next guy wants $75-85 my gut instinct is that someone is trying to make a profit off shipping

I don't expect them to LOSE money on shipping but high flat rates that don't take size and weight into consideration are kind of a dead giveaway to me that I am gonna get hosed when they want $75 to ship $100 worth of products

Well, someone at Autofiber screwed up and shipped me exactly what I ordered

I don't know how I can ever trust them again

2 paks of Double Flip rinseless towels and a Holey Clay Towel

I figured the pink would show dirt better

The holey towel is super soft and supple and I will be using it on my daughter's Rav4 soon, doing a wash, clay, seal to revive their clogged up coating

I think I have enough Brake Buster to make it through winter.

Just taking advantage of my wholesale free shipping code to buy a few goodies for myself and the two teens I mentor.

Detail Guardz had an interesting demo at SEMA
I've had all their stuff since they released each item. I have been touting their stuff for a few years, all great products. All my pads come out like brand new, and my polishers, which I consider pricey, stay away from water, like with other pad washer systems. And my wash pail was been 1 bucket for awhile with their dirt guard system.
They also have cord/hose guides. Other companies do as well, but I bought theirs. They are handy.

Is that the same as the Mitt Slide, or is it different? I have a Mitt Slide coming tomorrow.

Join the club.

It is called a Mitt slide. Brand is garage mate. Got it OG Amazon. $5 cheaper and free shipping. Looks identical and I’m pretty sure Autofiber gets theirs from Korea and so is this one.
