Pre-Order the new 3rd Generation Griot's Garage 6 Inch DA Polisher!

Darn, just ordered the current model and received is a couple of days ago. Haven't opened the box or used it yet and won't have time to for a couple more weeks due to work, but kicking myself now for not waiting for the new model.

Sell me your second gen for a good price ;)

I'd like to exchange it for the new model and pay the price difference (if any).

Just got word that is will not be first week of December, instead we will have these in stock in less than two weeks! SOOOO..... if you are planning on taking advantage of this pre-order promotion I suggest you get on it fast, as it will be down soon!
According to Griot's, it's still an early December release. Not sure what to think?

Lol!! I cancelled my pre-order with AG and ordered directly from
griots. Why? Because they offer a satisfaction guarantee. With my past experience, that was the best route.

mark, did you receive the new GG6? also, how does it stack up compared to the second generation (first batch) version?

Al, the 3rd generation is weak just like the 2nd generation(second batch). The 2nd generation(first batch), still has noticeably more balls! Also, it's funny how my 7xx watt HD polisher is WAY more powerful than the "mighty" 850 watt Griots. I can put a TON of pressure on the HD(speed 4) and it keeps on truckin'! Problem with the HD polisher, it transfers too much heat to the pad.

I have a 2nd Gen Griots. Plenty of power for some serious correction. I can put ALOT of pressure on speed 6 without stopping the backing plate. I honestly think skill and the right selection of products is what makes a detail project turn out to be great, not the machine your using ;). Well just have to see if it holds up to continuous use. However I will say, for my shop I do use a Flex just for the fact that I can switch from direct drive to dual action if needed. I use my Griots for personal use :)

A lot of pressure on speed 4?

Out of curiousity, does your say "professional" random orbital on the side?

Negative, on speed 6. I got mine from ADS, it has to be one of the late model 2nd gens because mine does not say professional on the box, nor on the unit itself like alot of 2nd gen owners. It says "random orbital". Which some claim has less power, but coming from someone who owned both versions I can probably suggest that its Griots way of persuading the user not to use it "professionally", or daily use. Personally, I wouldnt count on it for daily use, just because its made in China. Overall its a great machine for the price, and my personal opinion that its a way better alternative to the ever so popular PC. To each his own :)

I judge the power of DA's on speed 4. The first batch of the 2nd generation Griot's and the HD polisher are the only DA's that really handle pressure on speed 4. I've tried them all. :)

:iagree:The PC is underpowered.

Im kind of bummed, I should of waited. Im like a little kid when a new and shiny toy comes out XD. Although I dont justify getting the new version just because of a switch relocation and a "grip" on the head. Although it is tempting....gotta have the latest toys..
