Is a pressure washer worth the money? I feel that using a garden hose and foam gun just doesn't get the vehicle clean before using a wash mitt. Also, a power washer would take the bugs off much easier.
 
In my honest opinion. Yes, it is well worth the money. But it is like a double edged sword, it can do a lot of harm. I own a 3500 PSI pressurewasher, and it really packs a punch, I am able to take bugs off easily, take tar off easily, and brake dust. But if you are not careful, you can take the paint off a car. If you do use one, be sure to not hold it in one area for any amount of time, because the paint will start to come off. I love my pressure washer, but have also learned some valuable lessons with it.
 
On some gas model Hondas ,you can go from 4000 down to 150 psi with a adjustable loader.1200 psi is good for car cleaning,nasty floormats 3000 psi to beat out the dirt.4000 psi for concrete cleaning.worth every penny ,and getting jobs done quicker with zero agitation on anything.with a hose to much labor involved.
 
Yes a pressure washer is a very good investment. It will do a much better job than just a hose.

IMO, an electric unit is all that is needed. This gives plenty of pressure (up to 2000psi) while being much quieter and easier to maneuver than a gas unit. With the electric units the pump only runs when you pull the trigger. When you release the the trigger pump stops and is quiet again.

Invest in a good quality name brand unit such as Kärcher.

Yes you should definatelly get one. I own 2, one from Wal-Mart, can't remember the brand but it's their own brand, Green and black unit. Anyway I paid 49$ for it and I have been using it for 3 years on every detail. It came with a foam canister too. I also purchased a larger unit from Simoniz. I always use the smaller one so the other one is my backup.

These units are 1600 and 1700 PSI respectivelly. Plenty of power to wash a car, very useful for filthy mats too.

I know most people here swear by gas powered units but I don't feel I need the extra pressure. On the contrary I think I would be afraid to damage something if I made a mistake.

Will the plastic fittings hold up on the Karcher?

Mine's close to 15 years old and no problems with the bayonet fittings. Just a pesky leak around the pump.

I did find that using a dap of silicone grease every now and then does help getting them on and off. Same for the O-rings fittings..."Little dab will do ya."

I would recommend a pressure washer as well. I honestly did not know what I was missing just washing with a hose. I initially bought one so I could use a foam cannon, but now I'm not sure how I washed a vehicle without a pressure washer.
 
YES!!!

I have a Ryobi 3100 PSI gas pressure washer with "idle down" feature and love it!

You don't need 3100 PSI, but I love it!

I use the Sun Joe pressure washer for about 2 years!

I just want to remind anyone considering an electric pressure washer. If you have any desire to purchase or use a Foam Cannon you will need a minimum pressure washer of 1.4gpm and maximum 2600psi.

I un-knowingly purchased MTM Foam Cannon 14.0263 for Gas Pressure Washer I sold this unit to a friend. It did work but not as good MTM Foam Cannon 14.0349 for less PSI and GPM electric pressure washers.

I have a foam canon on my small ryobi electric mentioned above, the smallest one ryobi makes and my son says it turns my red jeep into a santa car. I bought mine on ebay, marketed for lower pressure washers, not sure it matters. It lays it out!
