Pressure washing/steam cleaning...

I have a 05' Taco Pre-Runner and I have pressure washed it twice and still NO problems. To each there own. And you really didn't know you could crack an engine block? I thought that was common sense!

Glad you havent had any problems yet.

Simple Green on not so dirty engines and purple power on bad dirty engines. Spray off dirt and oil with pressure washer (keep it less then 1500 psi). Then start her up, take my leaf blower and blow dry. Run for 15 minutes and let her cool. Spray Black Magic tire foam all over the engine. This how I do engines.

do you cover anything like spark plugs, battery, intake?

You should cover the intake/ filter, sensors, any wires that dont look like they are "water proof."

when you guys spray it with SG or any APC. Do you use a towel to like wipe it or u just spray it down with water then use AA tire foam?

You can work it in with a brush or something.

On older car you need to cover the carb, and distributor cap. Make sure they do not get wet. Spark plugs has a rubber boot on them. If it has an open intake, cover it up.
Newer car stay away from the coil packs. Using a pressure washer is not the best way to clean an engine. You might blow up some kind of senor or electrical something. It's better to do it by hand. Check out this link.
