Product Fragrance/Smells...

Do you notice the smells or buy or not buy because of the smells?

I got my WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant sample today and it works great, but the smell is driving me nuts. LOL Initially it smells good but then it has like an under smell or something haha. I don't know how to describe it, like the second whiff smell and it is really bad to me.

M21 has a great smell and I love using it. I think it is a little inferior to WG but I almost sway the M21 way for the smell. LOL

Has anyone else noticed this? Or maybe I need to quit snorting products hahaha. J/K .... OK, yeah, I seriously need to put down the DoDo Blue Velvet, yummy.

Or any other products that you like working with because of the fragrance?
 
I absolutely LOVE smelling detailing products. Yes, the smell is important, but it won't sway me away from using the product(unless it's sonax wheel cleaner)if it doesn't smell that great. I think I'm the only one that likes the smell of WDGPS....lol. I smell my detailing products all the time when I'm not using them.

It's definitely a nice bonus when a product smells good, but I will still use the most effective ones I can find regardless of the smell.

I agree that WGDGPS is pretty foul smelling. Of the few sealants I have tried, only DP Poli-Coat has what I would call a non chemical scent.

The scents to me are the frosting on the cake. Won't sway me (that I know of) but I sure do love a good one. Jim and I were talking about the scent on Ultima Waterless Wash. There are scents that are better but this one has something addicitve in it. The first time you smell it you'll think, "Oh, thats nice". The second or third time you'll think "OH, THATS NICE!" By the 4th or 5th time you'll know what I'm talking about.

Mark, have you smelled Sonax WC? After everything I read I was expecting this heavy putrid smell that you could smell from 10 feet away and wouldn't leave. I really didn't think it was that bad at all. It's not good... but it's just like a air perm smell and it goes away as soon as you rinse. Maybe it's just me...

I now know what your talking about.I used some UWW last night and can't wait to use it again.
Ultima WW does smell nice:drool:
 
I just got a sample of Ultima Waterless Wash from Chris (toxygene) and I have to say it has the best scent out of any detailing products I have ever used.

Chris thanks a ton for that sample, I really wasn't expecting it.
 
So do you think the scent is orange soda or blue slushee?
 
I absolutely love the smell of Meg's Nxt Generation Tech Wax 2.0, by far the best smelling sealant of the group that I have. WGDGPS and BFWD do have a not so pleasant scent (not that bad though) and DP's sealant isn't bad at all. But that Meg's Nxt Generation sealant just smells so awesome.

Funny you should mention the BFWD, I found that it smelled like cheap perfume after it hazed over. My whole garage smelled like it and I was really afraid my wife was gonna walk in and ask who I have been with :D

Yes, I've used Sonax WC. I agree, you can't smell it from 10 feet away, but when you're close, it has a very strong odor and smells terrible! Maybe you're losing your sense of smell. :(

I think the Sonax WC smells like a hair salon and whatever bleaches or chemicals they use....I use to have to go to the hair salon with my mother as a kid.

You might be right Mark! Sticking my nose in those bottles repeatedly to figure out their scent might not be good for me... But I sure feel great after doing it! Im the MAN J/K
 
OK Good, I am feeling much better about sitting around smelling my products. LOL I did notice after trying to figure out the WGDGPS I was either losing my smell or getting a little tipsy. Not sure which haha.

I also like ONR, nice chemically sweet smell but not like a perm, I think the WG falls towards the perm side of things.

Oh and BTW Cee Dog, I am glad you changed your avatar, the other one looked like a medical procedure. :props:

I think thats the first thing that just about every detailer does when they get a new product. Heck I open up my Souveran Paste Wax every once in a while just for a whiff :D

I too LOVE smelling products!!! First thing I do when I open a product is give it a BIG smell. No Mark you aren't the only one that likes the smell of WGDGPS, I love the smell as well. Some of my very favorites are:

WG Autobath = candy cigarettes (many may be to young to remember these) or old fashion bubble gum

Pinnacle Bodywork shampoo = coconut

Pinnacle Souveran Paste = banana/coconut

DP Waterless Wash = minty um um (very addicting)

DP Total Inerior Cleaner = tropical oh my goodness um um

Whoa back up, it doesn't smell like bananas? I have been wanting to try it but figure it had the same banana scent as the DP Interior Protectant.
