Product Review: Permanon Platinum

Introduction:
Like many I am on a never ending quest to find the greatest LSP that provides durability, beading, sheeting, great looks, and easy application. Permanon seemed to hit a few of those attributes with easy application and good beading. So the decision was made to buy a bottle try it out. I was lucky enough to get in on an early group buy and this made my decision that much easier.

Product Description / Claims:
Permanon Platinum is a simple spray and rinse nano coating that creates a durable silicium shell that produces a brilliant shine and long-lasting protection on all hard surfaces. Surfaces protected with Permanon Platinum take on properties that are virtually identical to hardened glass; microscopic pores and pits in paint and other hard surfaces where dirt typically accumulates will be coated so your vehicle will be much easier to clean and maintain.

Permanon Platinum is formulated using nano-engineered particles of Silicium (14Si) that form an electrostatic bond with the surface being protected. Dirt will not bond to the treated surface, thereby reducing soiling and organic staining. Acid rain, airborne contaminants and other chemical compounds that would typically destroy a conventional wax or sealant will easily wash off. Permanon Platinum only takes minutes to apply but the results are long lasting.

Permanon Platinum is resistant to temperatures up to 572 degrees farenheit; a conventional car wax is stable up to 104 degrees farenheit. To get a better idea of how resilient Permanon Platinum is to extreme heat, consider this: brake dust burns at 518 degrees farenheit, well below the limits of Permanon Platinum. The number one cause of dull or faded paint is too much exposure to ultra-violet rays; no other car wax or paint sealant can withstand the extreme temperatures that Permanon Platinum can.

Permanon Platinum bonds on a nano-level so it acts to preserve the original surface being protected. Permanon Platinum is a highly effective water and dirt repellent that lasts while being resistant to nearly all acids, alkaline solutions and solvents, keeping your vehicle clean and protected through any circumstance. What’s more, Permanon Platinum creates an extremely high gloss finish on painted surfaces that is smooth to the touch.

Product Details:
Packaging: Clear Bottle with Measuring cup
Directions: Direction are clear
Color: Milky White
Scent: Not sure, but I like it
Pricing: $25.99 @ 100ml / $131.99 @ 500ml / $227.99 @ 1L

Directions:

1. Thoroughly clean the surface(s) to be protected. Do NOT use any type of wash and wax product as this will interfere with the bonding of Permanon Platinum. To ensure the surface is free of any previously applied waxes and sealants, we recommend adding two ounces of Pinnacle Signature All Purpose Cleaner to your wash bucket.
2.A 5% solution of Permanon Platinum is ideal for daily drivers. If you have an airplane or boat the first application should be undiluted.
3. Pour 50 ml of Permanon Platinum into a 32 oz. spray bottle filled with water.
4. Spray Permanon Platinum starting at the top of the vehicle and work your way down.
5. Thoroughly rinse the vehicle with water and then dry it using a soft microfiber towel or blower, like the Metro Master Blaster.
6. For interior surfaces, spray a 5% solution directly onto surface and lightly buff with a microfiber towel.

Warnings or Precautions:
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Store out of direct sunlight at room temperature
  • Concentrate is an irritant

Testing:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpmLOp5DToo]Permanon Platinum Application - YouTube[/video]

Pros:

  • Super easy to apply
  • Great beading and sheeting

Cons:

  • Short lived durability at times
  • Expensive per application

Questions:

1. Is the new version any better?
2. What can be done to extend the durability?

Final Thought / Summary:
Permanon is truly one of the easiest product to apply that I have ever used. Simply mist / spray it on and rinse / blow it off. You don't have to touch your paint and risk any marring or towel marks. Although the video doesn't show it my preferred method of removal is using my MasterBlaster to blow everything off and dry. The initial beading and sheeting is excellent as well. The only real downside is the durability in my experience. For the cost and the hype I was hopeing for 4-6 months but in my experience it has been more like 1-3 months. So for the ease of application and to minimize touching the paint you give up durability. To many this is an ok trade off as they don't care about the overal price they simply want the best. I have been left wanting more. I am currently researching some other new options that will hopefully provide the same ease of application with better durability.

I will continue to update this and use it as a real time durability test. As always any comments, questions, additions are welcome. Thanks for reading.

Hey Troy,

Permanon
is one of those products that work but it leaves me wondering how? I understand the particle charging attracts just the right amount of product but what am I applying?

Like you I've tried it and it really does work. Once I've applied it and the surface is dry, I can literally feel the finish is slicker. The other thing I noticed is the finish doesn't seem to attract or is a better term repel dust and dirt.

Another fine review and a great product....:props:

Nice review. I used this for the first time on my Opti-Guarded RX-7 yesterday. I mixed 50ml and 32 oz of water into a garden sprayer. I hit the paint/glass/wheels & barrels. Super easy to apply. Car looked nice afterwards. Better looking or slicker than Opti-Guard alone, I had a hard time telling. Looking forward to seeing how this stacks up with Carpro Hydr02.

I read that PP cannot be layered and I'm toying around with how often to apply to my "Sunday" driver. Troy, how do you know when its time to reapply? Loss of slickness/gloss?

Nice to see someone else NOT wearing gloves and getting a little dirty.

Nice job buddy!

Very nice review Troy. I love the videos as usual.

It looks like a great product but the price is just to high for me.

Great review! Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us. My car is OC'd as well and I've been thinking of trying this as a topper. Now I just might!

I plan on trying my Permanon tomorrow IF it doesnt rain....

My question is, i am going to wash my car with 2 buckets
and when i do my final rinse, after rinsing do i need to dry my vehicle before spraying permanon? Or can i do it when it is still wet? and then rinse off the permanon and then dry?

Gotta say, I enjoyed your review. It was very informative.

I just bought some CarPro Hydro 02 (sounds like Permanon's kissing cousin) and look forward to trying it on top of Opticoat.

Your review motivates me to try it out. If only it would stop raining.

Permanon can be applied to a clean wet vehicle without issue...:props:

Nice review, Troy!!!!

If I can get 3 months out of Hydro2, I will be very happy! IMO, that's very good for a spray on, rinse off LSP!

Thanks Guys

PP can be re-applied over itself. But it doesn't build up... It will simply fill in any missing or "damaged" areas. As with my video you can definitely start to see a beading difference.

Nice to see someone else NOT wearing gloves and getting a little dirty.

Gloves? I don't need no stinkin Gloves....

I prefer to apply it to a dry or semi-dry car. I look at it like this. You want to atomize the product into the finest mist to get it applied evenly over the surface. Any water on the surface will block the product from hitting and bonding properly.

Mark, have you tried the Hydro2 yet? I only have a 100ml bottle of Permanon so when it runs out I'm going to have to decide on whether to stick with it or go Carpro.

Hydro2 is on my list. Thinking of a 50/50 comparo.

The current 50/50 I have seen between PP & Hydro2 is sweet. Hydro2 beading makes PP look average...

I have not used it yet. I will this weekend! :D

Nice review. I wish more products were spray on/blow dry!

I like Permanon as you can actually see it change and become more resistant to water after each spray.
