Product Review: Poorboy's World Liquid Natty's Blue

Thanks for the links CEE... wow, if you're saying LNB is removing almost as easy as Souveran paste, then there is something definitely wrong with either my batch of LNB or my method. I sure hope it's not my method, because I'm sure no rookie...

Am I the only one here who has found LNB and Natty's Red difficult to remove???

No, you are not. I haven't tried LNB, but I did try Natty's Red, and I was definitely disappointed in the fact that it was not easy to remove.

When you read a whole bunch of posts about a product and how easy it is to remove, as was the case with the "limited edition" Natty's Red, you would think that it actually would remove easily. Well, it didn't for me, I can tell you that. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't like it was cement or anything, but it was somewhat of a chore to get it off as it didn't want to remove cleanly.

I wasn't impressed, so I traded it away.

I know lots of people love it though....and lots of people still talk about how easy it is to remove. It just wasn't that way for me.

I know what you're not getting a sample of :D

I know that you didn't particularly like OGBW either. If applied a little too think, it takes a while to properly set up, one needs to "crack" the wax surface and can be a little grabby. With a thin coat, it still takes a little effort to crack the surface but it normally wiped off easily for me with a little wax dust on the towel. Is that the experience that you are describing?

I have to admit Fuzion is in a whole other league with almost effortless removal. Same for WGDGPS. Between Corey and Dwayne pushing me, I need to try a WOWA sealant soon, just for the experience.

When I think about difficult to take off, I think back to helping my dad use Westleys and Raindance back in the 60's and early 70's. That stuff turned into cement if applied just a little too think.

Kurt, definitely gotta try the UPGP... Word of warning though. I see from other posts you seem to very much prefer the nuba look. The UPGP dosn't give that kind of look by itself. But if you like high gloss, super reflections and clarity you'll love it!

And the strange feeling of walking away after you applied it.

It is soooooooooooo awesome. Personally, I just think the look the next morning is literally unreal. Especially after the 2nd or 3rd coat.

"Didn't particularly like"?! It was much worse than that in my opinion. I may have referred to it as one of the worst LSP's that I have every used. This was because it didn't look particularly good, stained trim, was somewhat difficult to remove, and attracted dust like a mofo!

Other than that it was great! :D

Not completely. I had no trouble "cracking" the wax with the Natty's Red, it just didn't want to remove cleanly, even after many swipes.

Fuzion rocks! Im the MAN

I remember some of that stuff too. I remember my dad coming into the house and asking for my help to remove some wax he had put on the car and couldn't get off. Can't remember what it was though.

Rob and I have been having a fun spar over One Grand Blitz Wax for the last month or two.

At least, we seem to have found commonality with Fuzion as we both think it rocks.

Heh!

But at least you know that there are some Poorboys products that I really do like! :xyxthumbs:

Yes there are some I do like... namely, PB Bold n Bright Tire Dressing. No sling... semi-matte/gloss finish. I also like PB Black Hole.

Thanks for backing me up Rob. I know I wasn't the ONLY one having difficulty. I think I was spoiled from WGDGPS, Fuzion, Powerlock, 4StarUPP, and Souveran.

Yes, this is EXACTLY what I experienced with both LNB and Natty's Red. Not cement-difficult by any means.... just when compared to WGDGPS or Fuzion, it takes more effort. And if (IMO), WG and Pinnacle stuff look better and I already have them, I think my LNB and NR will sit on the shelf (or get traded!!! Who wants them???)

It is soooooooooooo awesome. Personally, I just think the look the next morning is literally unreal. Especially after the 2nd or 3rd coat.

Now that I definitely agree with you on Corey. I think I posted a review on UPGP too. In fact, I think YOU converted me to it.

Fuzion rocks! Im the MAN

Darn it!!! Maybe I shouldn't have traded my Fuzion to you Rob!!!! I'm having trader's remorse now ;) haha kiddding. I have another jar.

At least, we seem to have found commonality with Fuzion as we both think it rocks.

Fuzion does rock, however, I do like the wet look look of Souveran better, but I don't like Souveran's durability (2 weeks at most). Fuzion blends the best of both worlds, compromising one for the other.

Well today I am stripping my car again and making a 3rd attempt with LNB. The temps are a little cool here, currently 43 degrees. Probably around noon today I will proceed with the application of LNB. I plan to compare using a microfiber pad vs. a foam pad.

Wow, you have a lot of patience! I would never give a product a third chance. Two at most, then I'm done.

Have I mentioned the fact that it was the only LSP that I have ever literally thrown in the trash can even though it was still basically full? Normally I would just store it away with all my other stuff that I rarely use. I just knew I would never use this stuff again.

True story!

;)

I haven't participated in the blind sample project but it would have been fun to hear your perceptions in a blind test. :poke:

I always used their Omega Glaze under the base wax coat which might or might not affect appearance versus your experience.

Do you use a finishing glaze like 3M Imperial, Megs Showcar or OG Omega Glaze under the Natty's, Dodo, Mothers or other traditional carnauba waxes? How about under Fuzion, Souveran, Sig II, Max Wax, etc? I wonder if Natty's would come off easier if used with a glaze?

Good luck. I hope you find out what's going on.

I absolutely love the idea behind the blind sample thread! I can say that I am pretty confident that I would have had the same opinion on OGBW if it was a blind sample. I had heard pretty much nothing but praise for the product prior to use (I guess that could theoretically bias you *against* a product too if your expectations are too high) and I had no reason not to like the product prior to use.

It has been a very long time since I have used a traditional glaze under a carnauba wax (or sealant for that matter).

Rob, I'm just having fun with you. I know how you feel about BW and I totally respect opinion. I know the product's warts, and I prefer Fuzion despite a full tin in my product cabinet. ;)

I think the blind sample project is really cool and thought about participating several times. I have several non-AG products that I would like to get other people's opinions to calibrate against my own experiences. If someone liked it, then new options unfold for them. If someone preferred something else, like OGBW in your case, then it would also push me to try that other product. However, I figured that it should be kept within the AG.net family so I am living vicariously through the thread.

Why did you stop using a traditional glaze?

There have been several Non AG items tested out. I don't see anything wrong with it as most are compared to AG standards ;)

Exactly.

Kurt, I stopped using traditional glazes for a couple reasons, the main one being that I mostly use sealants and using a traditional glaze under the sealant could cause bonding issues.
