Products you wasted your money and time on and why

DP Wheel Glaze, which while smelling good, was a pain to work with (specifically removal) and longevity didn't warrant the work time. Good news was it pushed me to coatings sooner.

I am on the CG forums, thats true. To call me a hypocrite, well that isn't. I do like some CG stuff, but Diablo and Mr Pink are not worth the money that you pay for them. Since you're obviously stalking me between the forums. go back and read my recent posts. I've been very honest over there, as well as here, with my assessment of CG stuff. I like VRP and Silk Shine, for example, and have said so whenever asked. I also have advised folks over there to get their foam applicators for the VRP, which I also like and will buy again.

The name of the game here at Autogeek is respect. Everyone has a right to their preferences and to voice it peacefully. I am certain you would like the same. Let's agree we all may disagree from time to time.

Keeping it civil and perhaps asking why would provide insight. Different environments, different perceptions, and even failed or new techniques can change the outcome from a product.
 
Sorry to interject, but the thread is what product YOU thought was a waste.
 
For me, any Glaze product is just a waste of time, money and effort. I rather do a AIO step like HD Speed.
 
Finally got one.

Adams Under Carridage Spray (I think it's called, I threw it out).

Spray it on the wheel wells and leaves a slick shine.

Trouble is by the time I got to where I was going, there was no product visible.

Figured that can't be right so tried again.

Same deal but next morning after 30 minute commute was gone?

Tried different product and much better.
 
For me worst product was chemical guys leather cleaner.
 
HD Polish - Too much dusting that it got shelved.

3D Eraser - didn't do anything to 12 hour old water spots

3D Trim Care - gone after a week and after the first wash

Adams Strip Wash - doesn't strip anything
 
I can't really say i've ever been totally let down by any product i've bought. I usually get something i'm looking for based on discussions here and after a pretty good discussion about it...pro and/or con. I have certainly had products i have bought and never finished using because something better came along in that category. It's not that i was let down by the old product, it was just kicked in the butt by a better performing newer product.
 
For me, Megs Ultimate Polish. It cuts (the bottle said contains some SMAT, assumed it will cut) very little almost nothing at all. Compared with SF3800, which should be in the same level, SF3800 beats Megs Ultimate Polish in terms of cutting power
 
Safe Scrub Sponge. I bought it a few months ago and have only used it once. It works well, but perhaps the bugs I get aren't that bad that I don't need to take the sponge out. I manage to get them off with just a MF towel and shampoo. I use a MF so that I don't get bug pieces in my wash mitt. Also wash the front bumper near the very end to keep from contaminating the wash/rinse water with bug pieces. Please feel free to tell me if my current method isn't any good.
 
Fixer by CarPro, didn't work well which surprised me since every other product from them is great

You know, I'm in the market for another bottle of UP.
 
Megs endurance tire gel. Used it until I got detailer line all season. That stuff is so sticky dust sticks to it. Also it's harder to apply than all season. When the customer has the next wash I had to clean that sticky goo off. Water based is the way to go.

Anything else at autozone that I upgraded and saved so much money.


There's a difference between detailing and "detailing"
 
Megs clear plastic cleaner and clear plastic polish. That stuff sucks using on headlights. I used 105 and 205 on headlights and it cleaned up way faster.

Also clear plastic detailer. You can just use interior detailer and it does the same thing.

You just single handedly figured out a way for all of us to keep Meguiar's D114. All they have to do is quit producing the trash you just mentioned. They get rid of two junk products, and keep a stellar product. A win, win!!!



I find it easier to just keep tires clean rather than dress them. Occasionally I will dress them, but it's rare. Although I do try products for that purpose, I just long ago determined that none will ever suit me and that they look and clean easy if you simply maintain them.
 
Meguiar's Super Degreaser.

There is nothing "super" about it... probably the weakest degreaser I have ever tried. After struggling through about 1/2 gallon mixed at 4:1 and 2:1, I eventually just started using it at full strength to clean tires in order to get rid of it faster.

I really think it's a victim of its own strength. Too good for your own good.

Yes, yes, I've heard the official reason, but part of me feel its versatility was biting into the sales of its cousins.

Just today I pulled out D101 and D120.... Funny that I did because with D114, those would sit under the sink (and had been for almost a year). D114 took care of the spokes, brake dust, tire cleaning, wipedown the seats, and glass - all in one go.
