Pros and cons of the Flex 3401 and Traditional DA, IMO....

The Flex is definitely prone to walk and is more work to use on the vertical panels IMO. For compounds or heavy polish though, I wouldn't go back to the PC from the Flex (although haven't tried the PC with the MF systems yet). Lighter polish, glaze, sealant, wax, AOI I'll take the PC all day.

I agree, was doing a murano last weekend and got pissed off at the flex for walking all over the place, so switched to the PC on the vertical panels. HOWEVER, all I did have on the flex was the 6.5 pads. Just ordered the 5.5 and backing plate, so hopefully that makes a good difference

I don't have any trouble controlling it. The first time I used my Flex 3401 I never looked back.
:iagree:Never had a issue. Doesn't even matter that I am 6'3" 240. It is all technique.

Before the stronger models came out there were threads asking how to repair thier DA's, so they can keep using kevin's method. Everyone was blowing the motors using too much pressure.

One area that the Flex excels over traditional DAs is in one step corrections. I've found it much easier to apply Klasse AIO or Pinnacle XMT360 with the Flex. Never had any problems with control and use only 6.5" pads.

Guess us big old athletes can't handle to flex enough to keep it walking from us. We must just need to grow a pair.

I got a new Griots DA and even though the MF pads do work so well with it as they did with my old PC..I used my Flex the other day to throw down a quick coat of PB Black Hole and I just enjoy using the flex so much more over the regular DA.

Mark I ran into another thread where you sold your GG and got a Flex because its so much better. What ever happened to that opinion?

Good point. I was so used to the Flex(I sold it too, then bought it again), that a traditional DA felt very awkward. However, when I bought the MF system, I got much more familiar with a traditional DA, therefore, coming to the conclusion between the two machines. It is ok for people to change their minds, right? :)

It sure is.

Explain this one to me though :D
I think I mentioned just recently that the Griot's is more proned to break. There's no doubt the PCXP is more reliable. I think when I posted that is when my Griots went bad on me and I was bitter. I decided to order a PCXP. However, when I got it, I was thoroughly disappointed with it's performance, so I gave the Griots another chance, and it's been great for awhile.

Kevin Brown is the reason why many people blew up their PC's

Please explain how a properly primed pad surface can kill a DA. And, which parts were specifically failing due to usage and not manufacturing defects? Thanks.

For one reason or another, I dislike the Flex DA. While it is a capable machine that can remove severe defects, I find myself fighting the machine. I'd rather use a DA or rotary. Besides, the old belief that rotation is the only acting force in defect removal is just a myth.

:iagree:

I guess it's illegal for this to happen. :dunno:

Wait, you must have bad technique.

The reason it has so much cut to it is because of the fact that the pad "spins" in one direction..and the "orbit" spins in the other...one ccw and the other cw. I believe that that also helps it with cutting down on the vibrations.
