Hi All,

A friend of mine is taking delivery of a "New-to-him" 2011 Corvette Grand Sport, black exterior, black interior... I believe it is called "Triple Black" but I'm no domestic expert. Now here is the thing, he's a busy guy, and has no interest in or time for detailing/maintaining the vehicle, and has an appreciation for his own free time, so would rather pay someone to clean/maintain the car. I'm not that guy either, I don't possess the experience nor the desire to detail cars for money, I do it for my own cathartic reasons on vehicles I own, that if I mess up, no big deal.

I do not know the condition of the paint right now.

What protectant can he put on this summer driven only car? I've seen posts about CQuartz things, and ceramic coatings etc, Ideally it would be a once or twice annually type thing that protects the vehicle and keeps it looking fresh. He'd like to spend around 300-500 dollars if possible, for whatever level of protection that can buy. If the best answer is to spend the 300 dollars on AGO products like wash buckets and spray wax, wheel cleaner and drying supplies I'll suggest it, but I fear the commitment of 4 hours to properly wash and clean the vehicle will be a commitment he will not be willing to make.

If 300-500 will only get him a nice exterior detail and sealant/wax/LSP, forgive me, I'm not hip to the business side of detailing.

Might cost him a bit more but I'd look into a full paint correction with a ceramic coating applied. Then all he has to do is really just learn to wash and use the right products and techniques. Do that and if the car is truly a summer only fun car he'll be happy for years to come with nothing more than washes.

I personally would do that and then have him invest in uber rinseless and some quality towels.

Whats a paint correction and ceramic coating cost? average? I'm assuming like 40hours worth of work? so maybe $1200?

Depending on the condition of the paint it could run him upwards of that.

If he finds a good detailer to do that, he could then pay said detailer to give it a decent maintenance wash every so often which would be much cheaper.

.....For this reason. It would be better to find an AGO Detailer in your location who maintains the skill, techniques and desire to properly correct and coat the vehicle.

I have no intention to ever bring a MF towel near this vehicle for that reason. I fully intend on recommending an AGO vendor to handle it. I will look over the paint prior to sending him to a detailer to at least evaluate and "grease the skids" as to what the condition is so there is no sticker shock when a detailer tells him how good or bad it is.

Seems like a coating is the unanimous consensus, now the new owner will have to make the decision. I can only provide the info (passed along from you fine folks)
