I don't think saying you forgot you posted on an internet forum falls within the realm of believable.

Wait, what...are you saying you were consuming alcohol whilst posting?!?!?!?

Just claim someone stole your laptop, or one of your kids got ahold of it instead ;)

So I have been on here for a few months now and have realized that experience wise I am more than up to par with many members on here. Over the last month I have noticed a large amount of members answering questions that they have not experienced first hand..... and those answers are off key (from threads that were read) - even if by a minuet amount that is enough to give someone the wrong impression in the direction of even damaging vehicles.

So please...... only answer threads with personal experience guys!!!!!!!!!! Makes me wonder about the things that I did learn from this site months ago! Do I drop it all and start over?!?!?!?

Some ignorant people out there hear or read something, and run with it as if it is their own experience. The problem i have with that is when they pass on the info to a newbie as if it was there own experience. because as it was stated in this thread, "there are many ways to skin a cat". so maybe what was read is correct for that particular situation, but not ideal for the person asking for advise. BUT luckily for the person needing advise, there is usually more than one person chiming in here at AG. knowledgeable people at that

I dont think you believe anything I say..... but thats ok man - I still love ya
I do believe some things you say, like the fact that you love me and want to make out. I get that, everyone wants some Spicy in their life. It's the drywash stuff I have a hard time with.

Edit, I said hard time...lol

If anything, I've learned that it is better to keep your mouth shut and your ears open - you learn more when you do less talking (or posting) and more listening.

"Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is considered prudent." Proverbs 17:28

"If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards." Proverbs 29:9,11

Also, it's OK to make mistakes - mistakes are only worth making if you learn from them. Like Mike Phillips says, if you are having a detailer work on your car, you want one that has made mistakes, so you know he won't make those mistakes on your car.

"If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward." - Thomas Alva Edison

Now there's a thread that should get ya'll going...I'm new to this can anyone tell me the best way to skin a cat? Should I use a PC or a Flex?

I try to stay within my experience level when giving advice. I only like to really give advice on things I do on a daily basis. If I've only done something once....I'll probably shut my mouth when the topic comes up. That's when I read instead of type, ha. :dblthumb2:

I know how you feel though. I think everyone has their moments when they read a response and go WTF!? :eek:lol

I saw an episode of Dirty Jobs where they skinned a cow by filling in between the skin and muscle with air. It seperated pretty quick. I tried it on my neighbors hamster. Worked pretty good. :dblthumb2:

I'm sorry, ha.

This is a great thread!

So often I read suggestions that are very obviously posted by someone with no experience with the product. When browsing a forum to see how people have used a product, it's generally so I can understand how to use a product or find a product to fill a gap. If someone reads other peoples experiences and summarises that it's not really much help, as the person who asked the original question can read those threads and be just as well informed, instead of being mislead about another persons perception of that product from those threads.....does that make sense? I'm not sure I was very clear haha.

Just one of the many reasons it's fun being in IT and supporting retail environments like I've done from time to time.

Can anyone guess what POS actually stands for?

Hahaha well I do love using it for piece of s**t but I know it stands for point of sale.

Now, can anyone tell me what EFTPOS stands for?

I'm guessing Electronic Funds Transfer Point Of Sale?

Edit - I can't believe I actually just read this whole thread. I walked away with no useful information. Was hoping for something considering it made it to 8 pages, nope. :(

They said it COULD happen, not that it WOULD happen on every single paint system.

I think the OP should listen to his own advice in this thread, especially with the drywash topic. It's something that works for you but not everyone else. To tell someone to just go out to their filthy car and wipe it down with a spray bottle and towels is not the best advice IMO.

What it comes down to is people find their own ways of doing things that work for them. If you watched me detail and then someone else with the same experience, tools, and products detail I can assure you we would do things quite differently but still get very similar results. I think people should make it known whether they are stating their opinion or their experience, but other than that it's fine.

Really no need for a thread like this IMO. It is basically say "I know everything, and a lot of you people are wrong." Sorry buddy, but that just isn't the case.

So I just saw this response lol - and no this thread has nothing to do with drywash whatsoever! I started it because I have read many threads about people answering questions that a day or so prior had no clue about that particular subject. Something I picked up on from being on here for a few months.

And the comment' "I know everything and a lot of you people are wrong" - come on now - thats just garbage. I have stated in many threads that the reason I am on here is to get more knowledge in the automotive industry.... I am by no means an expert in automotive - and have learned alot here. I think you may have been one of the only ones to take it this way Spicey..... but then again you take alot of things that I write on here completely wrong.

Totally agree and B&B we are all here to help each other no matter if detailing is their hobby or their part time or even full time business, but if you have personal experience with something, by all means sure, teach, but if not, sit back and relax.
