I have a 2010 toyota tundra scheduled for a 1 step polish tomorrow. The owner called me and told me a shopping cart hit the rear 1/4 panel today. I went by and looked at it today and I think a re-paint is needed. As you can see, the gashes are down to the primer. He is set on using touch-up paint. I told him it might look worse because this is a a lot more than a touch up. So, what can I do to make it look halway decent after the touch up paint. I've wet-sanded once on a friends junk panel, but I'm not comfortable enough yet to wet sand others cars. After the touch up paint, if I hit it with the Flex and M105, would that help smooth it out? Any advice on what I should do is greatly appreciated! Thanks! :dblthumb2:

I would send him to a body shop and let them do the touch up.
If you fail he may blame you that panel looks like a repaint is in order.

Yes, I told him touch up paint is not the right application for this, it needs a re-paint. I'm not going to do the touch up, if he wants, he can.

There are certain people that use something, I'm not sure what it is, but its basically a rub on type deal that they match to your paint that they let dry. It's much cheaper than a repaint, and looks much better than "touched up". I had it done to my cobalt when someones car rolled into mine, and they left. I'm not sure as to what it is, I will ask my brother or maybe someone else knows.

But what is it? You speak in riddles!

I don't know :(
My brother isn't here right now and I knew little about paint when I was getting the car repaired by the "Mobile Paint Repair" guy so I didn't pay much attention. I do remember that it had to cure and I couldn't wax it for a month. It wasn't like "bondo" it was an actual paint type substance. I will do some googling and try to figure out.
