I received my Poorboys kit and PC. I'm not sure which to use and what order. I was kind of hoping for more detailed instructions. The Poorboys kit has a generic set of insturction but is not specific to what's in this kit.

Here's what I have:

SSR2.5 Medium Abrasive
SSR1 Light Abrasive
Spray and wipe waterless wash
Sray and Gloss Enhancer
Natty's Bubble gum past wax (almost started chewing when I smelled it)

I use Meguires NXT car wash.

As stated in previous posts I'm needing to get rid of moderate oxidation. I'm guesing wash with Meguires, dry with my micro towel. Start with SSR2.5, move to SSR1, then Bubble Gun wax. No idea about the sprays, not sure I'll even need them.

Are any of these a sealer? Says on the box Polish and Sealant kit, but nothing inside says it's a sealer. Very confusing to the novice. Anyy help would be much appreciated.

Wash the car. Dry the car and then clay with clay and clay lube. Use the Poorboy's 2.5 with an orange pad on speed 5 or 6. Work the polish for about 5 minutes until it breaksdown and then remove the polish with a microfiber towel. If you haven't yet watched them, watch the porter cable demonstration videos on autogeek's main site. http://autogeek.net/xmt.html

Polish a small section and then after the 5 minutes check your results. If it looks good then do the entire car, if you need to do another pass with the 2.5, do it on this section and then see after that if it is enough. There might be some hazing left over from the 2.5, don't worry about this, this is normal and will be corrected by the 1.0, just see if you got your swirls out before moving on. After you have completed the swirl removal you can move onto the finishing polish stage. Use your 1.0, again on 5 or 6 for 5 minutes. After that buff the residue away with a microfiber. After you finish polishing you can wash the car again to remove the dust from the polish and then you can move on to your Natty's. I hope this helps you. :)

The spray and wipe and spray and gloss are both quick detailers. After you buff off the natty's you can use the spray and gloss to amp up the shine on the car. Just spray and wipe off with a microfiber towel. The spray and wipe is more for cars with very light dirt and dust. Again you just spray on and wipe off with a MF.

I watched the video. What clay? There is no clay in this kit unless it has another name. I was under the impression this was all I need short of the wash. Are one of these a sealer?

No, the Poorboy's kit doesn't have the clay. Clay kits are pretty much always sold separately. No, the Poorboy's kit doesn't come with a sealant either, the natty's blue is your paint's protection.

Don't worry about the clay, you can pick up a clay kit at any local auto parts store. Autozone sells the Clay Magic kit for like 10 bucks. It will come with the clay bar and the clay lubricant.

Thanks. I'll get it for this weekend. So no sealer needed with the wax?

One last question. Is the Natty's wax supposed to be hard? I've never seen wax this hard before. Thanks again.

rub it several times with a foamy and it should transfer enough to do a panel at a time. Most paste waxes are hard, but yes Nattys is like a block.

Thanks. Should be ready for a relaxing weekend with the car.

Being you are in a southern state, Nattys may be enough for protection. But I don't know how winters are there. If you don't want to be waxing in the winter, you might want to order a sealant to put on before the Nattys.

I was thinking the same thing. It can get pretty nasty in the winter here a times. It gets down to around 15* for a few says and we get an ice storm now and then.

I was thinking sealer n the summer too due to the extreme heat we get. Wax isn't supposed to last as long as sealerin hot climates..........I've been studying. :righton:

Poorboys EXP and DP Shield Shine would fit well before Nattys, when and if the mood strikes.

Bonsai - I also bought the Poorboys kit and have been very pleased with it. As much as I tried to take care of my truck over the first two year of owning it, I had some nice marring in my paint. This was due to construction overspray and me trying to get it off with clay. The clay did its job, but it left a lot of light scratches that killed me when the sun hit it.

The Poorboys kit 100% took care of it. I did already have some clay, which I recommend, and bought the Poorboys EX-P sealant. I currently have two layers on my truck and it's looking great.

i too love the ex-p sealant, smells like coconut or whatever, i wanna eat it! only thing i dont like is it has a tendency to show up spotty after you buff it...its weird but its grat otherwise

I cannot say I like it better than Z2 Pro. This might sound strange, but I like the beading better when applying a good layer or two of Zaino.

But then again, you get a WHOOOOOOOOOLE lot more EX-P for your money than you get Z2 Pro!!!

zaino seemed like nazis about there products to me, i never used them and probably never will out of preferance, but i just found it odd that it was like this is what you use and how you use it, never nay other way, or any non zaino product or youll die, zainozainozaino... i dunno just my thoughts.

i did get some WG deep gloss on my last order, waiting for the right car to try it out on, i like ht ex-p on my white and dont wanna strip it since ive got a ton on right now!

I'm hoping for the same results. I'm going to get some clay today (now this is turning into work) and the EXP with my next purchase.

When using the clay remember to do it out of the sun and use lots of lubricant. When rubbing the clay back and forth be careful not to use too much pressure. the clay itself is abrasive and can leave marring if you use too much pressure or not enough lube. Spray generously and then rub the clay back and forth gently with light pressure until you feel it glide smoothly over the paint. It will grab at first because the embedded contaminants will attatch to the clay, but once the clay has removed them, the surface will be slick and the clay will glide along effortlessly. Knead your clay often to expose fresh clay and pick out any large particles that you see. You can also clay your windows too. :)

Good luck with your kit. Have fun bonding with your car this weekend. Post lots of pics and remember that we're here to help you along the way should you need it. :) Take care. :)

OK, got the clay. Now I'm seeing why detailing is so confusing for the novice. Many of the products that do the same thing have different names. Like with this clay kit it has a detailer spray, but it's to be used as clay lube. Then the swirl removers and compounds. Cleaners and polishers, waxes and sealants.

Am I getting close? Oh, and got me one of those mini Mothers too. Can't wait to work my ass off this weekend.

Gotta get the ride ready to take the wife to the mountains for our 25th. Anniversary.

Kelso - I think that Zaino has a HUGE following, but some people get a little bit carried away with it. I am open to any products, and use what I like.
