Schmuck: "Hey you really need 'Item X, it's the best product for your car! All others are obsolete and trash"
Kitty: "Hey Mr. Schmuck, I appreciate you wanting to look out for me and recommending 'Item X' for my car. Tell me, since you're such the expert, what makes say, 'Item X paint polish greater than the paint polish I now use? Are they proprietary formulas or are they just products made in bulk then private labeled?"
Schmuck: "Umm, I dunno. All I know is they make my car look so good and shiny...and it smells good! Oh and check out 'Item X' Limited Edition wax that cost $250.00! Is that not the coolest container?"
Kitty: "$250!? You paid $250 for a jar of wax and solvents? Wow, saw you coming.
Schmuck: "For your info this is 100% Brazilian carnauba!"
Kitty: "For your info no wax is '100% carnauba' cause then you would be rubbing a brick over your paint. Don't you know that car wax is just an oil layer that rests or sits on your paint which quickly evaporates in a few weeks? The highest concentration of carnauba within a wax product might be in the 60% range and even then that's mixed usually with beeswax or paraffin wax. The rest is solvents. So you paid $250 for most likely 30% Brazilian carnauba, some other waxes and a reducing/carrier solvent totaling about $20, but that sweet container I guess might be worth the extra $230, ya think?
What you want is a polymer paint sealant as it bonds to your paint on a molecular level. See, wax does not bond to paint, it lays on top like an oil. Use wax as a 'beauty enhancer' after it's been properly corrected and first sealed with a good polymer sealant."
Schmuck: "Um, yeah. Oh I think I have a phone call coming in, see ya"
