Recommend me a low-aggressiveness (Mild) metal polish for exhaust tips

Wolfgang s line of metal polishes are the best in my honest opinion. I've used p21 s polishing soap, optimum, and also Flitz line up. Obviously sold here on the website. I have polished out diamond plated trailers with the Wolfgang fine aluminum polish. I suggest sealing your work when you are finished with the Wolfgang metal sealant also:)

You can do a bit of polishing and even more protecting with Collinite Metal Wax. Cheap and effective.

Hey Drew, if you're looking for a mild, easy to use, metal polish, P21S is great! I use it all the time.

Mark, I am kinda leaning that way. Do you like it better than the new version of Optimum? I guess Optimum is going to be more aggressive though.

P21S still has some bite. Optimum is watery and separates. Is there a newwwww version? Meguiars just came out with a fine metal polish, I'd look into that.

Hi Drew...

Here's a couple of photos of my SS exhausts:

I keep them in pretty decent condition by:
...use a product like P21S TAW (when necessary) with a soft towel for removing the majority of carbon build-up.
Any remaining contaminates/'carbon-spots' can be removed with a good Tar & Bug Remover...(when necessary)
Followed with a thorough washing to rid the exhaust system of the T&B remover.

(I'll add: Sprayway #50 Glass Cleaner works wonders on cleaning not so grimy/carboned-up SS)

Then...An application of a good, yet having 'gentle abrasives', metal polish, using soft towels/pads;
and/or: A drill-motor with a cotton wheel...Does wonders for the majority of my exhaust "tasks".

That gentle-abrasives metal polish is, to reiterate:

:)

Thanks for the suggestions Mark & Bob. I guess there are several good ways to go. I will probably go with either the p21s/s100 polishing soap or the Simichrome. On the Simichrome web site it even says that it can be used, "Anywhere an ultra fine final polishing is required." And I am looking for ultra fine. Sounds like the p21s is pretty mild as well. Maybe I will try them both lol!

I use Collinite #850. It's cheap and it works. Recently, I detailed a set of tips that hadn't been cleaned in 12 years. You couldn't tell they were SS before I started. After 850 and some 0000 steel wool they were brand new.

Mothers Chrome Polish is what I use on my Corsa exhaust. Great stuff.

What about Flitz polish? It adds good protection as well. And you will be able to use it on much more than your exhaust. I know it removes tarnish off pretty much anything.

I did hear Flitz was some good stuff.:xyxthumbs:

Flitz all the way also. I look to stick to companies that design the products to a specific material
