remarks from neighbors 2

"Cool if I drop mine off next?" or "Careful, you don't want to polish all the paint off of that thing!!" to which I usually respond with something to the tune of "Ya know, I never get tired of hearing that.". They usually get it after that.

just tell 'em I got room for a quick wash, your next but need 50.00 upfront.

while i don't mind if someone may be joking around in a friendly manner, you get some that are sarcastic or have nothing nice to say out of jealousy. with that said, throwing money into the equation like you mentioned, will usually keep them quiet...

Being that my neighbors really can't see what I'm doing up at my house, I don't get any remarks. But when I tell people I detail cars, they always seems to say, "wow, really? My car is SO dirty." I give them my number and they usually never call.

anyone else?...

I get "Are you crazy? Why are your out here washing your car at 1:00am??"

-and-

"Do you really think you need all that junk just to wash you car?
I've been using dish washing soap since [insert random year here] and my cars always look fine!" (they don't, they are all swirl monsters)

-and-

I don't see any leaves on your car, why are you attacking it with a leaf blower?

And of course the one that always leaves me laughing; "Mine's Next" [sarcastic]

whenever you have nice things and take care of them, it makes people feel/look lazy and in this case they wish it was their own personal vehicles that are getting the attention. if you were doing this to their cars, do you think they would complain? highly unlikely. in anycase, i'm in my own zone when im out washing/detailing the car and ignore people like they aren't there...

I did have one guy (not a neighbor, just a passerby, stop and basically insult me by saying only kids wash cars for money. I proceeded to show him a 50/50 of the car I was working on and he shut up. Then I walked over to his car with my LED light and showed him how terrible his car looked...he was speechless and just drove off.

This would have sent me over the edge!! And I'm a composed person. These people don't understand the true scope of whats required to do detailing.

I too get the "look" of the neighbors in the winter or in the wee or later hours of the
day when I'm working on my car or someone elses. Many are very nice and give the "Is mine next?". I always say "of course", but none ever take the offer.

I also love the look of family, friends or neighbors when they ask "what are you using?" and I say Black Fire Wet Dimond Finish Paint Protection, Black Fire Midnight Sun or anything product with a long name that sounds complex(?).

One of my neighbors tell me - "is mine next?"

My other neighbor tells me - "your crazy" because even when its 35 degrees and 12 AM, I'll still wash my parents cars and mine as well.

The last neighbor I had tried bringing his in my driveway and asked if he could use my wash bucket. I said hell no go away. :xyxthumbs: He never asked again. Thank god lol

I actually keep the comment in my sig. lol

Literally I had 2 young girls(don't know why I never seen them before). Pull up in a SUV, park in my next door neighbors drive way and yell "You're a Nerd!". While doing a restore detail on my headlights.

I just waved at them and smiled.

Still cracks me up to think of that, which happened 5 years ago.

i have a neighbor (cranky/rude old man and wife that aren't very nice/considerate to others) that use to open his garage and back his car out when i was washing mine and i assume that he thought i was going to do his next. i shouldn't have offered and washed his wifes dirty car one time, because he expected it all the time after that... :nomore:

I live on a cul de sac near the end. The neighbor to my left has a big trailer that blocks the view of my house from the rest. So only about 6 houses ever see what I do. Not many ever comment

I have one neighbor though across who owns a 370z. He washes it almost as often as mine. One day I went out to do my right when he was doing his(coincidence) and he was like "Hey! I have some wash and wax soap if you wanna try some!" I was like "No thanks!" It was funny too as I was still working on my wheels and tires by the time he finished his whole car.

Then another time I was using my foam gun and after I finished coating my car in soap he commented on how he has something similar for his flower garden.. :rolleyes:I told him mine was specially designed for car usage and all he could respond with was "Huh!" He had to say it loud cause he is across the street. It was really strange lol.

I feel bad for his ride. He towel drys it and washes it with one of those brushes. Puts the car cover on it whether its clean or not. Its swirled to hell. I can see it when he leaves if the sun is at the right angle from my house. A good 100 feet away.

One of the strangest comments came from my next door neighbor who never waves or smiles
in my direction. As I was towelling off my car, she walked up my drive and asked if I had seen her cat. She said that she had not seen it in a couple of days. I said no and that was the end of that.

Think she knows?

One time my neighbor called the cops on me for having soap and water run into road. Luckily I have another neighbor who can appreciate the work I do. He comes over and always compliments me. Keeps me away from the negative old people across the street lol

Vegas only allows you to wash personal vehicle twice per week. No real enforcement unless water running in street.

My neighbors cant see me but my family always gives me "now what did u buy" when boxes come in... then my mother "you can try it out on my car" ... and after the how many times are you gonna wash your car i usually hear why havent you done mine yet....

I all ways get the "looks great" and sarcastic "wanna do mine next" comments. No one is ever rude about it though and its always joking.

I do get the "you know its raining" or "its going to rain later on." I just respond with "so?"

There is one guy who will always lean his hand or arm on the paint while smoking when I finish one of our cars. I just stare at his hand and then he looks at it and goes " Oh, sorry."

I have heard: "your at it again?" and "Your crazy to pull off the wheels and clean under neath the car"

A few weeks ago the neighbor had her mom over and she came over and asked if I could clean her car next. I told her I would and she got a kick out of that

nice to not have really close neighbors. the ones i do have are aware by now i am a detail nut. in the summer, i am out saturday morning at 6am getting started. before we moved here, at the old hood, one of the best lol moments to date. from a child neighbor. "why do you always wash your car? my dad never washes his"

My neighbor said "I saw your truck dirty once, but then I woke up and realized it was only a bad dream".
