Review: 3D ONE Hybrid Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish

As always, nice review and video.

I'm a pretty big HD Fan and use a number of their products. As noted by others, this appears to be an updated HD Adapt of which I still have some and enjoyed using. However, in the grand scheme I continue to look for time-saving products that don't short me on results and quality. Looks like the quality of correction and finish is here with this product but my question is how much of a time saver, if any, would you say this product is?

I continue to be a huge fan of CarPro's ClearCut on LC purple/blue wool pads for shear speed and honestly the way it finishes out, all that's left for me is a few light passes with a polishing pad and my favorite polish to complete things with a stellar finish. Where I find the big advantage to this combo is pure speed. I have cut through finishes in much worse condition than shown on this mustang in as little as 3-4 passes thus combined with polishing, I can get 95%++ correction in as little as 5-7 passes thus saving me a ton of time.

It will be interesting to see how HD One works on wool and if it dusts. ClearCut won't dust much at all on foam but with wool it does given the nature of the fibers and how it works. I'm sure One is easier to wipe off too but ClearCut is pretty easy too.

Thoughts?
In my few times of use, I've found ClearCut to finish with a lot of micro-marring. What polisher are you using it with?

Flex or Rupes Mille. I'm not saying it finishes to LSP level mind you but darn near and the micro marring is gone after just a couple passes. My combo is usually Purple Wool and ClearCut followed up with Essence on a light polishing pad.

What speed wit the 3401 and do you use light pressure as suggested?

Thanks for the review Mike!

Since you didn't mention this, I assume that no panel wipe was performed to inspect the final results? And the same for prepping the surface for Poxy?

Are this a non deminishing abrasive or a deminishing abrasive?

totally different advanced technology from back then till now, this kinda reminds me of when HD had UNO (then Adapt came along). i still have some of these pads...

Awesome write-up Mike, looks like the new One product will be another home run for 3D! Can't wait to try it out! I'm assuming it does not have any LSP (like Speed)? Which is perfect if it doesn't...

Amazing 1968 Mustang and fantastic job on restoring the paint. I'm sure, somewhere, somehow, it put a smile on Steve McQueen's face. :)

Correct. This new product does NOT contain any protection ingredients, it is a dedicated compound/polish and body shop safe.

Ha ha... thanks for sharing the pictures for those that might not know what make the 1968 Mustang iconic.

How does this compare to Sonax Perfect Finish...similar products?

Last answer I got from 3d on Facebook was the first of September.

And.... it's the first of September!!!!

:)

How does this compare to Sonax Perfect Finish...similar products?

I'd say "no", very different products.

First SONAX has their own chemists, last I heard over a dozen full time chemists at their main headquarters in Neuburg, Germany. 3D has their own chemist, Tunch Gorin. So I'm pretty sure they use very different abrasive technology, both good abrasive technology just different.

Also - SONAX Perfect Finish is a dedicated product for rotary buffers. I use it with orbitals too with great results but I do want to point his out as most people don't know this.
