Yes, polishes most certainly remove the coatings. None of them are actually permanent because even paint is not permanent. Rocks and keys, and belts, and polishes, and polishing pads will cut through the coatings.
Thats why i said long time ago, there is no such thing as Permanent coat!, its pure marketing... we say Cquartz is semi permanent since any chemicals cant remove it but mechanic abrasion will.Yup couldn't have been said better myself. Pretty much, it's permanent with respect to car wax; it doesn't come off with normal wash or within x amount of months.
But a polish literally cuts away at whatever layers you have on the surface right? Just like paint, it will abrade away the "permanent" coating.

David
the problem between us is your definition to the word : "Permanent" .:
dictionary definition:
permanent [ˈpɜːmənənt]
adj
1. existing or intended to exist for an indefinite period a permanent structure
2. not expected to change for an indefinite time; not temporary a permanent condition
i define it as something which is impossible to remove or change its status/ condition by anything. if its chemicals or abrasion.
if your coat can be easy swirled or scratched or wear off by washing /autocar wash etc , for me its not called permanent.
if washing opti coated car scratch or wear off slightly during time , for me it means the same.
we call our coating semi permanent since polish abrasion will remove it (exactly like opti coat) and any other chemicals/alcohol/solvents wont.
my post wasnt meant to offend you, you have very good product, i admit that. , i just like to say the truth for my products.
Indefinite(from previous definition for "permanent"): not clearly defined or determined: not precise or exact.
From Dictionary.com Unabridged
Based on the Random House Unabridged Dictionary.
OC 2.0 does not not need to be re-applied over a finite period. For example: every 6 months, every 2 years, when water stops beading. Time itself does not seem to contribute to it's degradation. To most, that would make it permanent.
The concept that it can be degraded through mechanical abrasion, so it's not "permanent" doesn't hold water IMHO. As paint, clear coat, and steel also can be removed via mechanical abrasion. So, we consider them "permanent", aware that everything has some limitations.
Heyyyy experts here, for these coatings, can u lay a wax and then coat it? To lock in the prettiness of wax? Or will the coating cant bond normally due to the slickness of wax?
So according to your definition i can clearly say that Cquartz and Cquartz FiNEST are permanent coats which will not be removed/ oxidize/ loose properties or what ever during time .Thank you for helping clarify the difference of temporary and permanent protection. I think some people are confusing permanent with indestructible which is one of the many acronyms! The main claim we have for Opti-Coat is that it is a clear coat and anything that can affect automotive clear coat can also affect Opti-Coat. Opti-Coat, however, has better chemical resistance, better scratch and mar resistance, and better UV resistance compared to factory clearcoats. It also has better release properties since it does not oxidize over time like most urethanes, acrylics, or other automotive paints, therefore it continues to shed dirt and bead water for years (I guess this makes Opti-Coat more permanent than automotive paints since automotive paint is changing over time through oxidation and by definition it is not permanent).
David,

about your product Thickness coat vs nano thickness , i would love to see a proof of exact thickness layer the OC has over paint surface.
