Review - McKee's 37 SiO2 Auto Wash

I understood that it doesn't alter the characteristics of the existing LSP. Somehow, though, it has gloss enhancers. I think I read that last part in Joe's (Next Level) write-up of the soap.

So what’s the SiO2 part of it do? I’m not disagreeing, I’m just surprised at finding this out for the 1st time.
And does that mean that it’s main claim to fame is being able to let the soap dry on the paint? Who does that anyways? Lol.

So this soap doesn’t leave you with paint that beads after using it? I thought that was the whole point of it?

Is there a car wash that actually does that?

The keys to this wash is it wont hurt (possibly only enhance) existing protection. However, it can dry on paint and not leave streaks or spots. This has been tested by many of us down in Florida in extreme sun and heat and it can be confirmed. It also smells good and suds up nicely. Its a very high quality soap. My favorite easily.

I have a question, I have used this soap a few times, but it doesnt lather up on the paint, it is like thick water with a little bit of bubbles.. Is that normal?

That's a good thing at least in my opinion as it won't alter the performance of whatever LSP is on the paint. I think there are folks who think this is similar to Gyeon Bathe+ and it is not.

I was one,, thanks for explaining.

This is what got me confused...
Reach for McKee's 37 Sio2 Auto Wash and rejuvenate the condition of your coating, increasing gloss and water beading.

Sounds like a good soap but I’m not understanding it like some others. The ad copy makes it sound like it adds something but others are saying it’s just soap you can let dry with no soap residue ?

I’m sure the representative doesn’t know either. Just will tell you it works by magic

While I don't do it on purpose, when washing an SUV without any shade in warm, sunny weather it is very hard to keep soap from drying. If it actually rinses clean even after drying somewhat this would be really handy in those instances.

Is there a car wash that actually does that?

McKee's Powerwash is another wash soap that makes a noticeable change in beading and appearance after use. The now discontinued Blackfire wash and wax product did as well.

No clue as to the SiO2 part. Leaves me scratching my head. But, I have so much car soap, I won't be buying it anytime soon.

I like the drying part of it, but aside from not being able to do a "regular" wash at home, I tend to wash in the morning, or as the sun is setting anyway.

If there is no SiO2 in it then why is it $50 a gallon. That's quite a premium for a soap that has good rinse ability.

Great review Mike. :)

I actually don’t mind the cap it comes with because it’s so thick getting it through a small hole will be too slow. I also like the scent.

All future batches will come with a flip cap. If you already bought a bottle and are needing a flip cap, send me a PM with your shipping address.

Thanks for the review.

I'm interested in how it still rinses off easily despite drying a bit. I have no shade to wash under and when doing an SUV keeping soap from drying and water spotting is a constant battle.

I'm fanatical about washing my car in direct sun on a Saturday afternoon in Florida. I love the heat. It only made sense to create a car wash that would be sunlight friendly, even if it dries on the paint.

It increases the gloss of your LSP, whether that's a wax, sealant, or coating. When you wash your car, is your goal to make the paint shiny, or dull? Enhanced gloss after washing is a by product of any quality car wash.

That's very odd. Your water could be extremely hard. Try adding more soap.

It does the opposite of most car washes: it doesn't clog the pores of the coating, thus increasing the gloss and water beading.

It's called Sio2 Auto Wash for a reason....;)

Thanks Nick. This is good news on the flip cap on future bottles. Also good to know that it does not clog the pores of the coating.

Quick question, after rinsing the Sio2 sealant off, does it need to be dried off immediately?

I'm still confused after reading the product description on Autogeek and your web site and then watching that video. Does it or does it not have SiO2 in it?

'Generally comprised of silica, quartz, or resin-based, coatings require special care to keep their superior protective capabilities. McKee's 37 Sio2 Auto Wash has taken this maintenance step a bit further by including Sio2 (silicon dioxide) in their formula.

The Sio2 ingredients included in McKee's 37 Sio2 Auto Wash actually enhances the brightness and strength of your existing paint coating after just one wash!'

'In fact, this sio2-enhanced formula fills in any microscopic fractures in the coating, restoring the gloss without altering the surface tension.'

Or is something more equivalent to Carpro Reset shampoo but with good rinse ability even after drying on the car?

If that's the case then the name you choose for this product is truly misleading.

I would assume it has SOME Si02 in it, but not enough to notice(no sheeting or beading) when rinsing on stripped paint. I've tried it. I'm sure Nick will chime in.

It contains the secret sauce. I will hit up my contact at AG to update their website copy.

The SiO2 does help with the sheeting. This product is like a wash and wax, but instead of wax it contains SiO2.

I like the answer with a sense of humor! I will indeed purchase a bottle of this

Hope you didn’t take it as a flame
