Review: Meguiar's DA Microfiber System

I actually like it better on tools like the G110v2 and PCXP. I tried it on the Flex too and the correction was similar, but the ease of use goes to the other tools. Actually I think the PC and G110 work a little better with this system.

Here is a side by side, left with the PCXP and right with Flex. One section pass for each...

Looks as though the Flex removed a little more defects?

I'm actually a complete noob when it comes to video and I just used the Windows Live Movie Maker (similar to iMovie). It's very straight forward and these were actually the first videos I had ever done with it.

For some reason I get very nervous talking to the camera and sound like a tool when I say "umm" every other word! I tried re-shooting it a few times by kept doing it without even thinking! :D

Thank you, I'll google it up! You certainly couldn't tell. It really looked pro :props:
LOL, I was actually going to ask you how many takes that took you... but I thought better of it. The only reason I was going to ask was it came out so great I was thinking he can't possibly have done that in one take!
I noticed the "umm" but it didn't make you seam at all nervous. You were still in your element. :buffing:

Rasky! :thankyousign::goodjob2::bowdown:

I'll have to reply again after I actually get through your write-up and watch the videos, but I'm blown away with the depth of your review!

Hahaha!

The movie maker is free with Windows 7. PM me if you have any questions and I'll shoot you my phone number. ;)

Thanks again! Honestly Corey's layout made it very easy to do as I knew exactly what info I needed to post. Todd Cooperider has a great review on DI too and I loved his approach on it. There should be many more coming....actually I'm surprised there aren't more now...

I was originally thinking this would be the only system I need. However, I thought about it, and what if I'm doing a correction and the paint doesn't need compound, and the finishing wax doesn't have enough cut? Where would this system best fit?

It wouldn't.

This system will not replace all your other polishes and pads and be the only thing you will ever need. Paints are different and all react differently to polishing. While I plan to use these new products as much as possible, I know some jobs will require me to use my other products. It's simply another great tool to have in your detailing arsenal.

Mechanics need to have many special tools to work on wide variety of cars...this really isn't any different. ;)

Hey Mark, the quote below is from David's thread. I asked him if the pads play nice with other polishes and this is what he had to say.

They sure do. I've used them with Menzerna & Optimum and they're excellent. If you look at the pic of the all the pads laid out you'll notice the 5 inch cutting pad is blue (hint/hint).

By all indications, this system seems like it's mostly aimed at high volume detailers or for use on one-step details by those of us who also do more intensive correction work. Just like the SO1O system was primarily aimed at body shops working on fresh paint.

I certainly won't be throwing my foam pads or other polishes away any time soon.

Great write-up and video's Rasky!

Can the finishing microfiber be used with any finishing polish like OPT Hyper Polish or even Menz PO85RD? Would it finish down as well as a black LC pad if PO85RD is used?

The only other polish I tried it with was M105. However, David and a few others have tried it with several polishes with mixed results. Check out some of the other reviews here and on MOL. ;)

Excellent review Chad. It clearly shows that you put a tremendous amount of thought and work into this! The absolute best I've seen hands down. And the videos speak volumes about the true capabilites of the system. Especially the ones comparing it to the rotary.

Amazing review Chad. Thats for putting that together. I loved the videos !!!

Thanks David/Pat

I'm enjoying doing the videos and hope to get a little better quality out of them as well.

Doing a black Passat tomorrow with both D300 and D301 that should make for a good demo car. :)

I wonder how this system would work with the 3401? Recommended speed is 4800opm, that's the exact opm at speed 6 with the Flex.
Really..Cause speed 1 is 3200opms and I would say speed 6 is the max 9600opm..How did you figure speed 6 is 4800?
