Review: Metro Master Blaster

I really want one. How big is it? I want to go ahead and clear off a space on my shelf for it :D

Not too big. about 24" long and around 8" diameter. The hose is easily removed for hanging on a wall or something.

Question...What is the difference between the regular 8hp version an the 220amp 8hp version?

It's 220 volt and not AMPs and usually sold overseas in countries where 220 volt is the only thing available.

If your wanting to know if it has more power then I don't know, but I seriously doubt it. You can go to Metro Vac's site and submit your question. They are quick to reply.

Just came across this thread and now I know where my next purchase on ag lies when there is another big sale. My fiancé is going to kill me.

Is the hose long enough that you can leave it on the ground and still dry off the roof of the car? Or would you have to elevate the whole thing somehow like on a cart or something??

Yes the hose is long enough plus I can do the roof of my Dakota but need to watch the hose from dragging on the paint.

Hose is 10 ft long as listed in the beginning of the review. Plenty long, I usually move it once or twice during drying a whole car.

Thanks for the info. Cee Dog, since you owned the 8hp version and the 4hp version, would you say the 4hp version of the master blaster would cut the mustard to dry a prepped vehicle or will it struggle?

Here's an older thread with another review that might help.

In my opinion 1 motor can't get a lot of the stuff out that 2 motors can. Not a whole lot of experience here, but if I was offered $50 (or whatever the price difference is) for one of the motors I would say "No way, Jose." If you can spend the extra money but don't want to, in my opinion all or nothing. Don't bother with the smaller one. Only if you really, really, REALLY can't spend the extra coin...like you need that money for food or gas or clothes for your little ones but you've got a money jar earmarked for the 1 motor blower, then sure if you've gotta make do, you've gotta make do. But if it's just down to choice, you're not doing yourself a favor by settling for the 1 motor blower. Just my very humble opinion. If other wiser, more experienced voices beg to differ and explain their rationale then by all means hear what they have to say. Just don't be asking for my motor #2!

Thanks Tommy, if by prepped you mean a polished and sealed, coated, or waxed vehicle the 4Hp is capable but you would regret getting it after you later tried the 8hp. I ordered the 4 and my buddy Jim told me don't do it if your gonna spend the money do it right! Well, I called up AG and switched the order to 8 HP before it had shipped. And I'm very grateful I did.

I want one so bad!
:D

Corey, I had a cool use for mine the other week: my wife had inadvertently sucked up a sock in the vacuum hose. I disconnected it and took it into the garage and attached the MB to the other end and let both switches go at once. That bloody sock flew out like a bullet, hehehehehehe.

Yup that is why I meant by prepped. I will go big or go home when I'm ready to pick one of these up. Thanks again for all the feedback.

Thanks for this amazing review Corey!!! I just placed an order for one!

I bought a MB about a month ago. I'd like to say it's the best thing since sliced bread, but I can't say that because I'm having problems with my house. Yes, my house. Turns out the previous homeowners (also known as "hacks") installed the outdoor outlet by tapping into a 15amp circuit that was already near capacity. Unless we turn off the cable box, all the lights down stairs, and don't run the washing machine, I can only run the MB for about 5 mins before tripping the breaker.

Our 100 amp panel is at capacity and we're getting it upgraded to a 200 amp here in the near future. When the 200 amp goes in I'll rewire the outdoor outlet and put it on it's own circuit.

In the meantime no MB for me!

just bought one of these on craigslist for $90! I think I might buy a new hose for it though.
