Review - Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

Thanks!

I didnt have any micro marring at all when mine was new. It is just a recommendation to use it on glass first so that you can safeguard against the micro marring. Try it right out of the wrapper and see if you get any marring. If not youre set.
I broke this system in on a black car and did see some light micro marring on the first few panels after first claying the glass. By the time I was half way through the car, there was no more micro marring just glossy black paint. I would describe the initial micro marring as very similar to the micro marring I get when I use "Clay Magic Red" medium aggressive clay bar.

I would probably break it in on a lighter colored car first if your goal is to clay and not do any polishing on a black finish. If you plan on polishing anyway go for it. This system absolutely gets my approval. I really like it and plan to keep it on hand.

The other day while doing the final cleanup on a car that I worked on, I was having a hard time removing some M-105 splatter from the windshield. I was using Stoner's Invisible Glass and a paper towel to no avail and then I grabbed the Elastrofoam bar and rubbed it across the glass using SIG as a lube and in 2 swipes the M-105 splatter was cleaned right off of the glass. That right there is good news.

Yes Sir. Once the block is broken in there is no marring. Thanks for your feedback, Dave.

Funny I remember when those first came out how the complaints were rolling in from members as the maring they caused was insane. What's changed?

Tried the clay block. I will never use regular clay again.

I am glad I could be of some assistance to you, bro.

Not sure as I only recently started using it. I have not had any isses with it marring. If you want to prevent marring PFC says to break it in on glass first. That seems to work very well.

You're absolutely right. Maybe breaking in the block helps avoid marring(as Garry said).

Agreed. I bought mine listed as a hi-tech sponge, but it's the exact same as the CG and Ultima. I looked at the CG one while I was down there a few days ago.

It must be a monopoly on these things just like Clay Bars. :buffing:

So I finally used this on my wifes white Nissan. Took me a half hour to do the whole car. I did have a question, to clean the block for each section I had my bucket with CG Citrus Wash in it left over from the car wash and used it to wipe the face of the sponge. Is there a better method?

Me too. I just bought 2 Hi-Tech's for 11.00 dollars each. Can't beat it....

Wipe it off under running water?
