Rinseless Washes - 2022

It will be interesting to watch House of Rags "copy" the TRC business model. Korean microfibers, very similar towel packaging, supporting youtube videos, etc. ...
Didn't TRC copy the PBMG business model? I think I've said this before, that as companies like Autogeek and Classic Motoring Accessories/Proper Auto Care started selling microfiber towels, later the companies that specialized in microfiber (TRC, Autofiber/MFT) said why can't we sell wax? I seem to remember there was this guy Mike Phillips here who used to do a lot of Autogeek YouTube videos...

If anything TRC has just filled the void left when PBMG was sold and lost its footing. And the packaging isn't just TRC and THOR, Autofiber has also adopted that, I think it's just a nod to trying to mainstream this stuff into the retail space. B&S is also packaging their EdgeGuard pads this way, maybe other pads as well.

What's Mike Phillips doing again

Absolutely and completely agree. Why change what works?

True, I was speaking more to the look and type of the microfiber packaging. I would not be remotely surprised if all these products were coming from the same plant and/or packaging firm.

That may be, but as I noted when someone suggested that THOR etc. was going to oversaturate the market, I believe that the whole YouTube environment is growing the market as forums did 20 years ago, and part of that growth is brick-&-mortar detailing stores, which want retail packaging they can put on display. Part of the reason I think that, is that in the last 5 years a shop like that opened near me, which now has detail bays where they will detail your car, your can rent to detail your car, or you can get personalized training sessions there, as well as having a showroom with the kind of products we are accustomed to buying at AutoGeek, TRC, etc.

I guess this is like The Bays where Klasse goes. I also sense that the consumer satisfaction we once got from ordering from a place like TRC or Autofiber, where we could sample one of these and one of those, and feel like we were getting that kind of custom treatment from a "real" microfiber place, has either worn off on us or is not shared by the younger cohort, who wants to see their expensive microfibers come in a shiny bag. It may also be easier from an inventory control standpoint, but who knows, I'm not convinced the actual manufacturer is doing that packaging, vs. TRC/whoever bagging them when they get them IN THE GIANT SHIPBOARD CONTAINER.

3D Detailing has a retail store a few miles away from me. Pre-COVID, they had their microfiber towels were laid out by type on tables. More recently, they have them more condensed and stacked on shelving, no packaging, to make more room for product. I don't know what TRC's numbers are, but I'd be very surprised to learn they were bagging their microfibers by hand, too labor intensive. What I found curious was the bag similarities in type and labeling, just like some of the issues with blending.

Interesting on The Bays, I wonder if that's what Levi, formerly with TRC, left them for, a similar type of operation in Utah.

I believe his is focused on drive through touchless with subscriptions but was cool to see the self wash bays have air dryers

Do they have machines for that? I mean the Quickee towels at Home Depot I'm sure are done that way, but TRC? I don't know. It's just hard for me to imagine them coming over in the container in those slippery bags, too hard to get the density.

Chappy, which one did you use? We are all waiting for your Clean and Iconic reviews, well, I am, anyway, and I'm sure Klasse is interested (ha).
Still had left over Absolute in my bucket so I used that. Yes, Klasse will disown me now but I was curious. I will probably give the Clean a try next just to see.

Well someone has to take one for the team but can I suggest Labocosmetica Idrosave first

There are definitely machines for that. Over the last few months, I've purchased about 5 different TRC towels either directly or through Amazon. All were identically and perfectly packaged and that's why I suspect machines, but who knows really.

Ohhh, you've already bought it, well, let us know Spam the Disingenuous-er did

Clean is actually a pretty good one. It’s one of the easiest to wipe off of the Rinseless washes I have used.
