Ever since I started detailing I have been wanting to get my hands on a car on this color – in my opinion all VW’s should be painted like this  …. and so the past few days have been a real pleasure for me. I simply cannot explain how great this color looks in the flesh, especially once I was done with it

The car was dropped off with me last week Wednesday night. I only got started with it on Thursday evening though and spent the evening removing the numerous vinyl/stickers. The process followed was to place the halogen on the area for a while to warm up the glue and then I used a plastic razor blade to remove the sticker and then goo-gone to remove the residue.

The owner also pointed out an area on the rear bumper and rear fender where this was present.

I am not sure what caused it but nothing I did removed it

Friday evening was spent on the interior - all the leather surfaces were cleaned using Cyclo CM30 APC @ 20:1 and various brushes /towels. I then conditioned/treated it with SmartLeather. All interior surfaces were wiped down with a damp MF towel and the interior vacuumed.

Saturday morning I commenced with the wheels, tires and arches.

Arches were cleaned using a Mothers Fenderwell brush with Cyclo CM30 APC @ 3:1 and dressed using Chemical Guys Bare Bones.
Tires were cleaned using Meguiars All Wheel and Tire Cleaner and dressed using Optimum Optibond Tire Gel at 1:1.
Wheels were first cleaned using AF Imperial Wheel Cleaner, then de-tarred using AF oblitarate, the de-ironed using AF Iron Out, then sealed using Collinite 845.

I then moved on to cleaning the door/boot shuts, in and around the badges/emblems, inside the petrol flap, around all the window rubbers etc.

I then happened to notice one of the cats eyeing out lunch

And decided to get some myself....

So after a re-fuel I then commenced with washing the car - pre-foam using a mix of Cyclo CM30 APC and Cyclo Polymer Car Wash, followed by a full 2BM wash

The paint decontamination process then commenced with tar removal (AF oblitarate), iron removal (AF Iron Out) and then claying (Clay Magic Blue). By this stage the weather had taken a turn for the worse and it was raining rather heavily for the remainder of the weekend.

Paint correction comprised of FG400/Orange followed by SF4000/Tangerine followed by Blacklight/Crimson on the paintwork, and PF2500/white followed by SF4000/black on the tailights/B pillars.

I had no time to take any 50/50 shots but did manage on Monday to shoot home at lunch time whilst the sun was out to snap some 'afters' - these were taken though before any LSP's were applied.

LSP's (Collinite 845 topped with Pete's 53) were then applied over the course of Monday and Tuesday evenings befoer the owner collected on Wednesday night. Once again the weather had taken a turn for the worse and so these are the only shots of the finished car, which I did not want to get wet before the owner collected.

Total time spent = 29 hours

Thanks for looking as as always any comments are welcome.

Very Nice :dblthumb2: I wish I got my vw in this color rather than black

Nicely done Lawrence, worked on a rising blue roc r sometime back-definitely a very rewarding colour to work on!

Nice work! I wish we could have gotten the factory optional 19" wheels here in the USA like the rest of the world got for the R. I think I might have gotten them on my R. I also wish we got the Scirocco R here in the USA, but that's a whole other rant haha.

Awesome work! One of the best looking rides on the road IMO:)
