Operation rode hard, put away wet

Client of mine wanted their SUV cleaned up, corrected/protected. It’s been sitting outside unprotected in the harsh Florida environment for some time now. Typical swirls, scratches, hazy/lazy paint, some chips, tar, road paint, and some bizarre defects/etching along the passenger top front fender, driver and passenger doors. Still had clear on it, but it was etched/cracked/crazed/and full of dirt/mold. It looked as if it had some type of mechanical abrasion, but I was told it was just from sitting outside. It very well could be the sun doing it’s thing on that one area with the clear. The interior was filthy, mildew, mold.
It corrected and cleaned up a bit, not perfect, but a ton better.

The ‘details’:

Adam’s shampoo
McKee’s37 iron remover
Medium clay mitt

Thanks for looking!

Wow. Incredible difference. Can’t believe someone would let a car get that bad, especially a Porsche. I’ve seen cars look that bad but they’re usually older, less expensive vehicles. Just sad but now nice!

The closeups made it look like 25 year old paint. Great resurrection, it looks beautiful as it should.

Great turn around! May I ask what you used on the B pillars? Porsche has some pretty fussy ones

I’ve seen similar cracking/(shrinking?) of the paint on 2018’s and up BMW’s, usually at top of fenders and trunk or rear hatch areas. I hit it with my paint gauge and the spots are the same as the rest of the panel, haven’t been repainted and the best I could do is minimize them.

Looks unbelievably good. Never ceases to amaze me how people let their cars get so bad. That thing looked more like a 15 year old 6 owner corolla.

Excellent work as always! What a transformation

What a restoration of this vehicle. Amazing how vehicles are allowed by the owner to be this neglected. Great save.

Thanks all! Appreciate the comments!

Thanks 2black: I didn't get any info as to if it had any previous body/paint work. Interesting observation! Now I wish it were still here so I could look at that passenger side again! Those defects were on the passenger side only: front fender--beyond where the PPF was, it's been removed and you can see the line. Front and rear door tops and a bit on the rear fender/quarter tops. ONLY those areas. It was very strange.

PTG readings were consistent with the panels. Just weird!

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Wow one your best before and after detailing. That must have taken quite a while and you made he look great! As always excellent work! KEEP ON ROCKING!
