Roll Call! Who drives a MANUAL transmission?

I've been driving vehicles with manual transmissions exclusively for over 8 years now. Every time I drive an automatic I can't help but feel like I'm a passenger.

Yeah yeah yeah, there's the PDK from Porsche and the DSG from VW, but if it doesn't have 3 pedals I don't want to hear about it.

I'm curious which AGO members drive a manual every day. I guess a garage queen counts too. ;)

I do. Fiat Abarth! I've been driving manuals for over 60 years! Still don't like autos and the automanuals aren't much better. (Even the best of the paddle shifters aren't much more than a suggestion!).

Nothing but manuals for me. Here is my current 700+ rear wheel hp ride.

Also had some Alfa's in the past. The new Guilia is on my hit list.

I learned to drive overseas where everyone drives a manual. AT is for rich people there, haha!
And after returning stateside I bought a manual since I feel you get much better control. Then I had a girl ride in my car once and she told me "your driving is making me horny" and I've never thought of driving anything else since!

2 show car 6 speeds, a dd 5 speed & a work truck 3 speed. I can't even remember the last time I drove an auto. I know it's been yearS.

I would have liked to pick that girl up in my younger days. Not that I'm old now, just careful.

Turbo, Manual and AWD for the triple crown. (If only I had an S4 so I could have that sweet supercharged sport-diff action)

The B8 S4 engine is quite special. I drove several a couple years ago and fell in love. Had life events not prevented me from pulling the trigger, I'd be behind the wheel of a B8.5 S4 today.

As much as I like the turbo engine in my GTI, I have to admit my "triple crown" would be RWD, manual, and either a N/A inline 6 or a V8. There is something about an engine that pulls steadily from low RPM clear to red line with no surges or drops/plateau's.

If everyone drove a manual then the roads in the US would be a safer place.

1999 CAMARO SS six speed, 600HP...manual trans is soooooo much fun, sure may not beat an auto for drag racing but it's much more fun

I regularly drive both. The CC is an tiptronic trans. The GTI is a manual and so is the Pathfinder.

Road trips? Give me the auto. Otherwise I prefer the manual. Something about the connection you have with the car when you drive a manual....

And if my daily commute was not 30 miles at 30 MPH I would also have gone for the S4 instead of the B8.5 A4. Having a 6MT means I can always find a gear to creep along and keep the revs below 2000 RPM where the turbo is doing nothing. I pretty regularly get upwards of 32 MPG in mixed driving and it is a bigassed car.

Yep, that's where the supercharged S4 really shines over the turbo A4. Pulls from idle all the way to rev limit. The stock turbo on the A4 is pretty small, it is designed to spin up quickly so the turbo lag isn't too bad. At the expense of top end power of course. You can swap the K03 turbo for a K04 and make S4 power, at the expense of driveablity. It meets my current needs, although an S4 would be nice if anyone wants to help chip in for my fuel bill...

Been teaching manual to all my ex gfs and my future wife better learn as well lol

Nothing grinds my gear like 3rd gear in my car loll

I've only owned MTs. My last 3 cars: (1) S2000 6MT (2) G35 6MT and finally E94 M3 6MT. I actually got a better deal on the M3 b/c its manual. It sat on the lot for a while bc people don't know how to drive a MT anymore. Its their loss.
