After my maintenance plan(prepaid) ran out I started pushing any synthetic oil past 4k miles and most times with RP past 5-6k miles. Several times it went past 7-8k miles as Subaru recommends 7500 miles on conventional oil in good driving conditions, so thought I could do that with synthetic even in bad driving conditions. Was a sad lesson to learn the hard way when my engine went out. Started noticing bearing noise a couple oil changes before the engine went, but was complacent since I still had extended warranty on my side. Worked out in the long run minus me totaling the car less than 1k miles after the bottom end was rebuilt/replaced. My truck has been on extended oil change intervals for years now and runs great with over 145k miles on it. And I hammer the engine on a regular basis; oil has been in it up to a year at times before changing it, but usually changed at about 6k miles. When I start running AMSOIL Signature Series in the truck it will go the AMSOIL recommended interval of 25k miles/one year.
