If you outfit the PC7424 with a host of a few different size backing plates such as the LC 5", 3.5" and 3" (actually 2-7/8") and use compatible pads in the 5.5", 4", and 3" size, you'll have a much more versatile machine that will work so much better on the average vehicle, meaning car, truck, SUV.

Swapping Plates is a little inconvenient, but only takes a couple minutes at most.

Keep in mind that for general use, the 5" Plate and 5.5" Pads will see most use commonly. Don't rely on just having only 2 pads per type in that size, then attempt to do an entire vehicle with just them.

Heat, over use, and loading-soaking with polishes hurts them quite badly, and considerably shortens their life.

The going rate for a premium quality 17" crash cymbals - a sheet of bronze essentially is about $400.00.

And people think a Rupes is expensive. Lol.

Today I paid $140.00 bucks for a very rare vintage Cadillac brochure from 1932... My inner cheapo gave a little cringe, but the other side knows I’ll never see it again, let alone at that price as the only other 1 currently available is selling for $475.00 dollars.

...Now I’m trying to book a detail gig for this weekend to makeup for the cost.lol.

I have posted before that I will use upward of 20 pads on my truck. Overkill? Maybe for some. But my results were increased dramatically, and cleaning each pad was much quicker as they had not accumulated too much spent paint/product.

Since detailing is a hobby for me, I can't see $400 for a polisher. If I used it every day, then I probably would. I went with Adams SK. It's great. Actually I don't think it's a comprimise. Also, Shinemate looks good.

SK is a good choice for a hobbyist.. As the waxmaster knows I troll the auction sites for polishers

I bought some 3” and 4” backing plates for the 7424 and I will be buying a boss 15. Maybe I’ll get mixed use out of the pc but I think I can use the 3 and 4” on the b15 and be ok.
Excited to get this thing on some paint. First up my black 16 Silverado coated about 9 months ago I’ll be redoing it for fun lol

In the drumming world, guys will have upwards of ten drum sets, complete with hardware, and cymbals. That's thousands of dollars.

Funny you mention that, a friend of mine who is a drummer was explaining to me just the other day that the difference in price between 2 drum kits is mostly due to the quality of the cymbals. A bit crazy that a sheet of metal can cost that much LOL. On the plus side I don't think those ever break so you don't have to consider the warranty

How is with the original counter weight on PC XP? I see they have replacement counter weights both for 6" and 5" backing plates. Could it be a more refined ones that get your PC polisher smoother? It's a little investment to do if it works better with them.
