Rupes Nano iBrid or Flex PE8 Kompakt?

I currently have several larger random orbital machines, including a 7424 I use with 3" backing plate but I want something for use with 2" and 1" pads. I haven't used a rotary before but I'm willing to learn. I like that the iBrid can function in both rotary and random orbital modes, but is it worth the extra cost? Will I be able to finish down as well with the PE8 rotary vs. the iBrid? I'd rather not spend the extra for the Rupes but if the results and experience are significantly better then I am willing to save up for it. I want to be happy long term with the purchase and get the best value over time, not just pick the cheapest option. I've searched but can't find much on the forum regarding the PE8. Are there other options I should consider beside these two? Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions/experiences.
 
All I can say is I bought a PE-8, don't let the Kompakt mislead you, it is not compact. It's more like a larger PC but much heavier and bulky and a rotary. IMHO it's way over powered for what it is intended for. I'm not interested in selling it but haven't used it but twice in 3+ years. I use it as a door stopper LOL.
 
I had a PE 8 and have an ibird. The ibird does a great job. The biggest issue with the PE 8 is the size of the machine. I know a lot of people will put 2 or 3 extensions on it to get it to reach in small areas, that doesn't always work. The size of the ibird allows it to get in a lot of tight areas. I would go ibird.

I had a PE8 as well. It was good for a few headlight corrections. I have a company car and was messing with some love bug marks and accidentally ripped the paint right off the bumper cover. Ooops. It is a very powerful tool. Also, it's a Bigfoot NANO, the Ibrid part is just the name for the battery powered technology.

And it will melt a headlight in seconds LOL!!!
 
I absolutely love my PE8 and make use of it frequently. I use it on mirror caps, bumpers, for removing sanding marks on spot repairs, headlights, and anything else that doesn't have a lot of surface area. On clear coat I use the one- to three-inch pads from Flex or sometimes the three-inch Boss pads from Griot's Garage. I can't compare it to the Rupes Nano because I don't have one, but I find use for the PE8 all of the time. An extension bar or two can be very helpful.
 
Thanks for all the input guys; I'm leaning toward saving up for the Rupes at this point!
