On my black 2014 Acura MDX brake rotors there is a rust colored ring running the inner circumference of the rotor. My Sienna has the same colored ring, and my Maxima has a thicker ring. Has anyone ever detailed that ring by either coating it with a high temp paint, or something else. While my MDX is neither a high end Porsche or Ferarri with red brake calipers (which I happen to like by the way), I would like to know what others are doing about this issue if anything.

Thanks,
Ron

It's the HUB. A lot of people paint it with some high temp caliper paint. They will even let the over spray get onto the rotors.... First time you brake the paint will go bye bye. Happens on pretty much every car with unpainted hubs.

I coated my unpainted rotor hubs when I removed the wheels for coating. Car is a 2013 and no rust on that hub area yet. (I know its NC, but they do use brine solution on the roads in the winter even if there is the slightest chance there will be any snow or freezing rain. Worst winter drivers I have ever seen).

I used AQuartz (original CQuartz) 2 step coating. Yes I still have some, probably enough for 2-3 cars. I also think the AQuartz Reload version is still superior to the current CQuartz Reload. Easier to apply with no streaking and I think it lasts longer.

I have an Acura TSX. I was sick of looking at that myself, so I just painted it with high temp caliper paint. I live in NY, so if they are unpainted, the rust pretty quickly, and it looks crappy.

They have different colors to choose from, I went with silver, as it makes it look newer, I guess. I paint the hat on the rotor, the hub and the calipers. Like stated above, if you get overspray on the rotors, it will come right off as soon as you hit the brake.
