The owner of the Scirocco phoned me to get some indication on pricing on the work that I do. He warned me that the car had some 'spots' on it that he couldn't get rid of ( immediately in my head I was thinking contamination or tar spots, as the owner said it was on the side of the car ). I agreed to give him a call as soon as I am back home. When I got home and phoned the client he greeted me with more bad news :???: After his return from Durban, he had the car washed and noticed the whole front-end was covered in spots ( later on while detailing, it looked like paint drops to me because of the colour it gave off while de-contaminating ). When the client arrived, I was shocked  The condition of the paint was very bad for a 2009 model. The Salsa Red paint work was dull ( including a few VERY dull spots where I assume the client tried to take off some of the contamination ), full of swirl marks, some etching ( from bird dropping I assume ) and then the contamination the client told me about. I knew right away that this was going to be a difficult car to correct, but definitely worth it in the end.

Let's look at the condition the car arrived in

I started off by cleaning the wheels and wheel arches, aswell as giving the car a multi-stage wash and dry, followed with some Iron-X and another wash and dry. Then the car was clean and time for me to inspect.

Contamination on the front

I decided to clay the car with a medium claybar after seeing all the contamination it had. Before the polishing started, I checked what the paint looked like :fear:

These were taken after cutting had been done, no refinement yet. I opted for Menz FG400 and Orange Cyclo pads for cutting, whilst using Menz PF2500 on green pads for refining the paint. My LSP of choice was Menz PowerLock. I dressed the tires and all the plastic trims, cleaned the windows and took the car out for a few pictures.

The owner was smiling from ear to ear when he arrived. I don't think that he expected this type of outcome, ever, in his wildest dreams  Happy customer = happy detailer we all know that

Thanx for watching. Feel free to comment, give feedback or ask questions if there is any :hi:

Nicely done bud!Keen to know why you used PF2500 for refinement?

Wow that red really pops now, excellent work!

well done! Did you have magnetic promo license plates made up to pop on the car for showing and photos? Nice touch.

Looks brand new! Owner must have been very happy.

I have been asked the same on another forum, why PF2500 instead of SF4000 for refinement. This was my reply right here:

I get what you are saying 100%

Let me explain my part of the story. My first pass with FG400 did not remove ALL the damage from the paint. So I followed up with PF2500 instead of SF4000. Reason for that ? The client, a little stingy ( after his holiday I assume ) didn't want to pay for a 3 step. In that case I would have hit it AGAIN with FG400 to get rid of all the rids and swirls and then follow up with SF4000. So I opted for PF2500 which has a little more cut then the SF4000 for my refinement polish, trying to get rid of as much damage as possible, while getting the goss back on the paint.

Hope that makes sence to you, in the same way that it made sence to me when the client explained he wanted a 2 step polish instead of a 3 step

Not magnetic, just normal perspex plates that I hold with a bit of prestic. I found that most of my clients prefer NOT to have their plates showcased on the interwebz ( which I fully understand ) and it takes alot of time to sit and edit them out on pictures. Got these made up for quite cheap and they work well. The other plus side to it, when my pictures starts to travel on the online community, my business name and number will be advertised for free :dblthumb2::dblthumb2::dblthumb2:

I totally love the license plate covers. Great idea!

Also the car turned out great! Awesome results!

Complete cop-magnet now! If I drove that around here, everybody would file in behind me and leave my sorry azz up front as bait!

Beautiful work again, Étienne!
