There is another option to save a forum thread with pictures and everything "forever" that is reliable, but somewhat more involved than just saving it as a favorite. This method allows you to keep the thread saved, even if the forum disappears from the internets.
There are two ways to do this:
1) To save the COMPLETE THREAD:
1) In "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread, select "Show Printable Version"
2) At the top right, click on the "Show 40 posts from this thread on one page" link. This will reload the page with more posts.
3) Press CTRL-P, or select Print from the File menu to print the page.
4) If you have Adobe Acrobat installed (not Acrobat Reader, but the full version), you can simply select "Adobe PDF" from the dropdown menu for your Printer Selection. Otherwise, check the box next to "Print To File"
5) Name the file to be saved whatever you want to save it as for easy searching later, i.e. "AGO Thread - Mag Wheel Restoration.pdf"
6) Click "Save"
Note: Certain printer software does not support printing to a file. If you run into this problem, there are PDF Printing programs available online.
2) If you only want to save the first post of the thread, at the top right corner of that post, there's a little #1. Click on that #1 and it will only display that post. Then follow the same procedure outlined above.
Saving the thread to your hard drive will allow you to reference the information at a later date, even if the forum goes offline, or your internet connection stops working.
Edit: I just noticed that the "Printable" version of this forum does not display the pictures in line in the threads, but does retain the image links. If you save it as a PDF, they'll be clickable, so you can click through to view the pictures.
