I normally keep a word doc on my desktop at the ready so that if I read a statement or procedure from an experience that is important to know, I copy/paste it to the doc. A little wordsmith'ing here and there is very important to remember.

But say there is a long post with pics that is important to remember?
How can I save or 'mark' or otherwise to use that info as a reference in the future?

Tks.

Reply to the post, then it will be marked and easy to find (unless you have 8,000 posts) :o

All I can say is...This is how I do it... (similar to yours?).

I copied this above thread-starter/OP of yours; then copied it to my: "new Word doc"; then saved the new Word doc as:

"wangotango AGO Documents"

(I will now attempt to copy/paste said "wangotango AGO Documents" Word doc to this post.)

Here goes (w/sound fx...click, click):

"wangotango” AGO Documents"

will give those a try, thanks!
(love the sound effects)

Simply save the post your looking at in your favorites. Either in your favorites under the folder you may have created for them or on the tool bar. In my favorites I created a folder called detail I can either choose to put it there or if i just want to read a long post later I save it to the tool bar and delete it later after reading it or you can leave it for future reference if wanted.

there is also something called a "favorite"...save page as favorite

This will also work!!

(I currently just have 5,249 "favorites" listed in the AGO folder...
...piece-of-cake asortin' through 'em!)

There is another option to save a forum thread with pictures and everything "forever" that is reliable, but somewhat more involved than just saving it as a favorite. This method allows you to keep the thread saved, even if the forum disappears from the internets.

There are two ways to do this:

1) To save the COMPLETE THREAD:

1) In "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread, select "Show Printable Version"
2) At the top right, click on the "Show 40 posts from this thread on one page" link. This will reload the page with more posts.
3) Press CTRL-P, or select Print from the File menu to print the page.
4) If you have Adobe Acrobat installed (not Acrobat Reader, but the full version), you can simply select "Adobe PDF" from the dropdown menu for your Printer Selection. Otherwise, check the box next to "Print To File"
5) Name the file to be saved whatever you want to save it as for easy searching later, i.e. "AGO Thread - Mag Wheel Restoration.pdf"
6) Click "Save"

Note: Certain printer software does not support printing to a file. If you run into this problem, there are PDF Printing programs available online.

2) If you only want to save the first post of the thread, at the top right corner of that post, there's a little #1. Click on that #1 and it will only display that post. Then follow the same procedure outlined above.

Saving the thread to your hard drive will allow you to reference the information at a later date, even if the forum goes offline, or your internet connection stops working.

Edit: I just noticed that the "Printable" version of this forum does not display the pictures in line in the threads, but does retain the image links. If you save it as a PDF, they'll be clickable, so you can click through to view the pictures.

I usually right click, email with windows. Or printscreen, email w/windows.

I have multiple folders of varing topics that I can access anywhere there is cellular service, w/o my computer.
