Seems I have wet sanded through my CC with 2000grit

good call. I might invest in a langka kit.

Good call. You should get some Langka before attempting to use wetsand paper.
:awesome:Im the MAN

Oops, too late!!!

BTW, nice to see you back

Sorry to hear things went bad on you (now we all know why my company lawyer told me to add the disclaimer to my article on colour-sanding)

For future reference: adding water to an abrasive makes it more aggressive, when colour-sanding use soap and water as the lubricant...

I really suggest you stop wet sanding things for a while! When you have figured things out, you can go pick up Meguiar's #00 High Tech Wash. Next time use a block where possible, and do fewer strokes between squeegeeing and inspecting. Doing research before something like this is very important, I highly doubt that your DIY fix will work or last. I think going to the body shop is a good idea at this point.

This is hillarious! If 99 out of 100 people tell him to stop using the sand paper, what do you think he's going to do. After all, he IS 1% of the population :o

Keep at it. You're going to eventally get it. Keep practicing on your beautiful Bimmer. I mean, you've done enough damage already, can't get any worse.:(

You're building some great family memories JoD. Twenty years from now you'll sit around the table at a family gathering and all laugh about it. "Hey Dad remember when I sanded all the paint off the family cars.":D

FYI, megs #00 wash is specificaly designed for wetsanding, thats why it barely suds if at all.

This is what i find funny.
The kid is scared to death to compound and polish paint becuase he firmly believes it will ruin the CC or thin it to the point of failure, yet he has no problem taking sand paper to his paint.

JOD if I can emplore you do one thing it would be to tap into and utilize the immense wealth of knowledge that is available from the members on this forum BEFORE taking on such monumental tasks....

I have wetsanded a full body with out paint but NEVER one that had already been painted, with that said even at the age of 32 I would not try this without first consulting with and taking the advice of people more experienced than myself.

I think it's great that you have the drive to actually do things yourself, especially with the youth of today that for the most part are acclamated to people doing everything for them just short of wiping their A**hole

Slow down, take your time, heed the advice of those with more experience... good thing it's just paint and not a blown engine!!

**forgive my gramatical errors I'm at work with limited time****

I think this is well said. Its easy for people to bash you because you come off as an arrogant know-it-all. Its okay to be a newbie, its okay to learn from others without acting as if you know more. I think that is why people give you a hard time, kind of trying to put you in your place. I hope everything works out for you, and the one thing that will help you most of all is a good dose of humility. Listen to the advice the real veterans are giving you and minimize the damage you have done. Good luck

Please listen to the advices around here before you attempt anything anymore. You once complained that menzerna was too abrasive for your paint, yet you picked up a sandpaper and used water as the lubricant.

The first time i wetsanded, I thoroughly researched before doing anything. Until now, i haven't mess up anything.

Sometimes you just have to take a step back and absorb the information that's provided. Less arguing, more learning. Everyone was a newb at one more or another, so it's okay if you dont know certain things.

Oh, I appreciate the fact that some people are trying to help me out. But i got to get this fixed so im grabbing the sand paper and heading out to fix my paint or if it does not look good, take it to a shop. I am hoping i will be able to finish today. I wish i had someting else that i could use besides sandpaper, polish wont cut it. Ill check back in a few hours.

Once again everyone tells you to go get it resprayed and it'll look best.

But you want to "fix" it yourself, when it's obvious you don't have any buisiness doing so.

So have fun doing your own "fix" and ignore all the smart people here.

Im not ignoring anybody. I sit and listen, and then make my own decisions.

Your going to sand even further...might as well sand down, repaint, re-clear. I must be missing something here b/c I don't understand why you are sanding again.........
