SEMA Release of Rupes

Dear wrx & Friends

I read on another site that, according to Kevin Brown, the 75E may be available only in a kit for US$400 until the first of the year, at which time it'll be available by itself.

Dear wrx

I need to correct what I stated. On another forum a user wrote that an entire kit (not sure which of the new polishers he was referring to) was going to cost US$400.

Another user said that he heard from Kevin Brown that it's likely that just kits will be available until after the holidays.

ohhh okay! that makes more sense. i hope they also sell the polishers alone and not just the kits for the holidays.. D: ...

I saw the kit for 450 came with 4 pads, 2 polishes, a bag and some mf towels. The duetto came with the same stuff and some sanding discs for 500.

Are you serious ?!?!?!? Dang I hope they really do sell these alone . :(

Ok I just read other places too that they are only doing kits for 500 ... I really hope AG sells the machine alone and not ONLY the lots D:

According to the one site that is taking pre-orders it is Rupes decision to sell only kits "initially" with no indication when they will sell units. IMO they're making a mistake as I can't see people spending $500 for a kit including the Duetto when they can get a 15 for $350. Here's the listing of the parts in the kits:

  • 1) Keramik (fine) Polish, 250ml
  • 2) Blue Compounding Pads
  • 2) Yellow Polishing Pads
  • 1) Interface Pad (for sanding)
  • 3) X-Cut P2000 Grit Sanding Discs
  • 3) X-Cut P3000 Grit Sanding Discs
  • 4) Microfiber Towels

Anyone know the amps/watts of these new machines? Are they less, more, or as powerful than the 15/21??

Just read this on another site:

"RUPES is only releasing the LHR12E [Duetto] in complete kit form...not individual tool sales."

Cost was right around $500.

Interesting. Can't find any power specs - maybe I'm just missing it. The Mini still weighs instead over 5 lbs:

According to Amazon, the Griot's 3" weighs 1lb. Is that correct???

Guess the GG6 will still be a best buy.

Interesting. Can't find any power specs - maybe I'm just missing it.

As others have noted, about 400 watts is the AC power consumption. All that tells you is that you can safely run it on a 15 amp circuit simultaneously with another tool consuming about 9 amps.

That number doesn't have a direct relationship with the correcting power at the pad, especially with a free-rotating type of DA where the pad rotation can be stopped to zero rotations while the machine's motor is consuming the full rated power from the AC line, in driving the oscillating portion (where the OPM is applicable) of the dual action.

see this link for specs:

Yeah I saw the kits out there as well. Was hoping that was just something that that site was pushing. That'll probably kill a decent percentage of sales. Although as I was speculating in another thread Rupes may be pushing the integrated tool, pad, liquid (compound/polish) solution. That is unfortunate as I'd say by and large most guys would rather use the pads and products they have on hand. :dunno:

:iagree:I had intended on purchasing both new machines, but I'm out if they are only offering them as part of a 'kit'. Hopefully this isn't the case, but if it is, it's a bad business decision in my book.
